Possible causes
- Faulty Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
- Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Communication error between the Engine Control Module (ECM) and Transmission Control Module (TCM)

The P0727 Codes is triggered when the TCM receives no signal from the ECM.
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P0727 Description
The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the engine speed through the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor with the engine running, and send signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

How to fix P0335 and P0727 error codes for Cadillac Catera 2000?

P0335 is a code for a faulty crank angle sensor. When this sensor starts going bad, usually the car will not start till it cools down, may cause rough running or no start at all. P0727 is a communication error between the engine control module and the transmission control module. Check for any bad connections between both modules.

Now i dont know a lot about automatics especially modern ones with all this fancy electronics thats used nowdays but i think its a fault with the temperature sensor for the gearbox. But where its located and what it looks like i have no idea it could even be mounted inside the gearbox .Sorry not a very good answer from a mechanic but?? very few of our europeon cars come with auto transmission .Evan when i do know whats wrong i cannot buy the parts for the gearbox as only re-con boxes supplied by the dealer so best advice is to try a specialist in auto box repairs only .PS some of my best students when i used to teach mechanics many moons ago were the girls so no excuses like iam only a girl please

At a stop light the car will cut off. Autozone used there code scanner and it says code P1780 and P0727. what is going on with the car.

Hi sirlowdown, I'm glad to help!

I don't know what vehicle you have but I'll take a best guess at this anyway. The P0727 is an Engine Speed Input Circuit No Signal. This is why your engine dies when you stop the vehicle. The reason is because the engine controller has no idea what RPM's the Engine is running so it dies and your lucky because I don't understand why your engine is even running without this signal. The engine controller must see various sensor and signals to calculate what to do next and if even one of these sensors are interrupted it can cause all kinds of issues. This could be the "Engine Speed Sensor" The Wiring, The Connector, The Engine Controller. All these things must be checked individually to know which one is causing the problem. The other code P1780 is a "Park Neutral Switch Malfunction". This can cause the controller to NOT KNOW which position the shifter is in and cause the engine to stall as well and again I have know idea why the starter will even turn the engine over if it doesn't know its in the 'PARK or NEUTRAL" position. Both of these issues must be checked and repaired before your engine will operate normally. Hope this helps and have an awesome day.
