1. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine. 2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. 3. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, or the display reads "OIL LIFE INDEX RESETTING 100%" then the system is resetting. 4. Turn the ignition key to "OFF", and then start the vehicle. 5. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on, or CHANGE OIL SOON is displayed then the system did not reset and repeat the procedure.
1. To reset the OIL LIFE indictor if equipped with a Trip Computer, press the TRIP MODE button until the light appears next to OIL LIFE. 2. Press and hold the trip RESET button until the oil life percentage changes to 99%.
this could be due to low oil. you need to check your oil level. if it is full i would do an oil change with a bmw filter. there is a difference in filters. the service engine soon light will have to be diagnosed. meaning pull codes to point you in the right direction. great car though. happy holidays
h) Engine Oil Replacement Reminder
Light (for vehicles sold in U.S.A.)
This light reminds you when to replace
the engine oil.
This light will come on when the ignition
key is turned to “ON” and will go off after
about a few seconds.
When you drive for about 8000 km (5000
miles) after the engine oil replacement,
this light illuminates for about 3 seconds
and then flashes for about 12 seconds
with the ignition key turned to “ON” position.
If you continue driving without the
engine oil replacement, and if the driving
range exceeds 12000 km (7500 miles), the
light will come on after the ignition key is
turned to “ON” position. The light will remain
on thereafter.
If the light is flashing, we recommend that
you replace the engine oil at an early
opportunity depending on the driving and
road condition. If the light comes on, replace
it as soon as possible.
You need to reset the light after the engine
oil replacement. Reset the light by
following the procedure below:
1. Turn the ignition key to the “OFF” position
with the odometer reading shown.
(For details, see “Odometer and two
trip meters” on page 136 in this Section.)
2. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position
while holding down the trip meter
reset button.
Hold down the button until the light goes
off. Before the light goes off, it illuminates
for 3 seconds, flashes for 2 seconds and
illuminates for 1 second.
If the system fails to reset, the light will
remain flashing.

oh thats the change oil light expect it every 3500 to 4500 miles they glow.. you can usually reset it by holding down the trip button with the car off and then turn the key to the II position where everything lights up

The DIC display is located on the instrument panel cluster above the steering wheel. The DIG buttons are located on the steering wheel. To reset Service Reminder Indicator, turn ignition on with engine not running. Press the MODE button until DIC reads oil life left hold SET to reset. Press and hold the SET button until 100% is displayed. You will hear three chimes and the change oil message will go out. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL’ message comes back on when the vehicle is started, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
hi, this is just a reset issue. sometimes the CPU can become confused. the original warning that informed you about your gas cap is still in the cpu's memory. you will have to reset the cpu and, this will clear the warning. After the reset, it will stay off. chevy cpu's tend to do this from time to time.
if the check/service eng soon light is on a problem has occurred in one or more of the electronic systems of the emission system/engine management, it is very rare you will feel anything, the system has very good failure mode programming to keep that from happening, at this point the only thing will be that it won't pass a smog test, or the mileage may be affected. Have a test run to see which codes are present in the computer memory.
