The easiest vacuum hose to access is usually the vacuum booster hose on the left sde of the ball-like booster in front of the driver seat under hood. About 15mm diameter.

Is it a strong crank? If it is a weak crank it could be your battery doesn't have enough juice. If not that it could also be starter. If neither of those check spark, fuel and pressure in that order from easiest to biggest Pain in the neck.

Sounds like the clutch assy is about worn out. Most hydraulic clutches are self adjusting so when the clutch disc lining wears thin it takes more pedal travel to engage.

Transmission rebuilt 5 years ago on a 1997 Eclipse RS. Now, the RPM levels are extremely high even without full acceleration.

The likely cause for your high RPM may be caused by a vacuum leak in the engine. You can open the hood and check your hoses for cracks and leaks. This is a good place to start, but may no be a full solution.
