Key works door but in ignition key won't move

You must see the Infinity dealer for this.

it may not be a spare key !
some cars have a set of keys
one that unlocks the door but does not start the car
one that may unlock the boot but not the car door

You may have a similar extra key !

Possibly the spare key was mis-keyed so you may have to have
another spare key made after you get original key by using a
locksmith to open door. I had an older chevy that I had a spare
key made at a Home Depot that would only work in one position.
The top and bottom of the key should be cut identically to original.
Also some new spare keys need to be reprogramed with the
car's security system to work in the ignition. Owners manual will
show you how to reprogram it yourself.

Close the doors. Lock the doors using the buttons on the key fob. Use the fob to again unlock the doors. The key should then work the ignition. If this will not work, you will have to tow your vehicle to the dealer and buy a new key and/or fob and have it programmed to the vehicle.

You must have a spare key. When your alarm is going off have your key in the ignition, wait it out. When your alarm stops in approximately 30 seconds keep the key in the ignition exit the vehicle and lock the doors (don't forget your spare key). Go to the passenger door with the spare key and unlock the doors and turn the key that you left in the ignition and it should start right up. Just worked for me.

Yes. go to the dealer and get another key. bring your registration with you for proof of ownership and they can also get the vin# from it. They will need this because your key has a security chip in it and the code has to match the vehicle. Thats why the walmart key wont work. Sorry but this key will run up to $130.00.

I came across same problem while getting off work after a 13 hour day... any luck I had mine towed to dealer...

Somtimes you need to turn the steering wheel a little to allow the lock to engage.

Try depress the unlock button while moving the steering back and forth a little. Try a lot..
If not work, drape a scarf or towel over steering column to hide key in ignition, and use spare key to open door lock. You do have spare key?
Check your insurance, you may have lock smith lock out coverage.

Yes; It is a universal key that works for the door and ignition switch, as well. Make sure that your original key dose not have a chip in it. If so, you will need to order the equivalent from the appropriate dealership. You shouldn't have this problem, but be sure to check before having that spare key made...

Again; The door lock cylinder and ignition cylinder share the same key formation.(original key formation)

• NOTE_ if you have changed your door lock cylinders for some reason and have not changed your ignition cylinder, this will present a problem, and the keys will not work universally. If all cylinders are stock, you should be able to have the key made and it will work on the ignition and door lock cylinders.

take it to a lock smith to remove the broken part or you could jam the broken part down to where the ignition will turn with the broken key. I advise taking it to a lock smith to remove the broken part
