The 40amp fuse is for the ignition/starter , remove the fuse and check visually if there looks to be any corrosion in the fuse holder socket, if looks ok then remove the fuse box , best to get a workshop manual for this , and check for any loose wiring , breaks in the witing etc and chech beneath the fuse holder for corrosion , if all looks ok then there is either a short to earth somewhere in the ignition system or either the ign switch or the starter , for this i would get an auto electrician to trace the fault , as these wiring faults can be nearly impossable to find with out experience and testing equipment , will be quicker and less chance of causing more damage , hope this is of help

That's usually a bad starter motor, shorted internally.

2000 JIMMY 4.3 WONT START AND KEEP BLOWING MAIN 40AMP FUSESE

What all does that fused supply B+ voltage too ? Do you know ? That would be your first thing to find out ! Do you know what a electrical distribution diagram is ? Do you know how to test electrical circuits with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? Do you know what a short to ground is ?
Which fuse ? IGN A - 40 amp ,under hood fuse / relay box ? This fuse powers the Starter Relay and Ignition and Start Switch
Does your vehicle have a manual or automatic transmission ? The starter relay could be shorted inside , It's also located in the under hood fuse box . If you pull the relay out of the box it's plugged into an look on the bottom of it you would see four sets of numbers ! 30 & 87 an 85 & 86 . If you were to jump 30 to 87 in the relay box the starter should spin the engine over , not start an run just spin ! 85 & 86 is the control side . Could be the ignition switch !
That 40amp fuse powers a lot of subsystems !

Here is a web site for free diagrams !
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine , Under system click on electrical distribution , under sub system click on power distribution . Then click the search button .Click blue links one at a time . First blue link scroll down to the second diagram . You will see Ign A 40 amp fuse at the top of the page .you will also see it powers the igintion switch ,look at last part of ignition switch , when in start or run that 40 amp fuse powers all those other fuse's plus three relays i see there also . A/C compressor relay , rear window defroster relay ,daytime running lights . Any one of those circuits could have your short . You need to isolate the circuits , pull fuse's till the fuse doesn't blow !

I have a 2004 chevy surban that keeps blowing the ignition fuse what can cause this

You have a direct short to ground on that power feed circuit . You need to find a power distribution diagram to see what all gets is power from that fuse . Isolate the circuits till the fuse doesn't blow any more , then trace out that circuit that blows the fuse .

Which Ignition fuse ? Which fuse box is it in ? under hood , passenger compartment ?
IGN A
40A
Ignition Switch RUN, START, RUN/START/ACCY
IGN B
40A
Ignition Switch RUN/ACC, RUN/START
Could be ignition switch problem , Chevy has had problems with them .

On 2005 mustang keeps blowing fuse 47 in fuse box under hood I have checked every thing it can find

that fuse could be burning out because of the oxygen sensors. Change them out. See if that takes care of the issue. If not then on the under hood fuse block unhook the black and white connections. Try the a/c again. If it does not blow the fuse, hook one of those back up and see, If they both blow the fuse. trace the red and yellow wire to check for shorts.

I have a 2002 Toyota corolla T sport 1.8 and have just had the engine rebuilt but it keeps blowing the 15 amp audio fuse under the bonnet, have tried putting a big amp fuse in and still blows. Car starts...

Hi,
Who installed the engine? If you did, check all the Grounds/Earths under the hood/bonnet. If the mechanic/shop did, take it back and have them fix it.

Front fan for air conditioner stop blowing but the back still blows. What could be the problem

If it wont blow on "any" speed, rap on the blower, if it starts to blow, replace the blower motor. If not, check the fuse, (under hood fuse box) FUSE 2 40 Amps. The Pink/White wire at the blower should be 12V. If the pink/white wire is hot, and the Orange/Black wire is not, the motor is bad.

load is measured in amps not ohms.ohms is a measure of resistance in a circuit.check the under side of the pdc for corroded wires or shorted wires on the load side of the circuit.

unplug the small wire on the starter and replace the fuse and then try to start it again to see if the short is before or after that point.

Keeps blowing the prime fuse under hood, gas gage won't read, heated seats won't come on,after truck starts, blows that fuse each time.Problem just started.

this problem is most likely caused by a fuel pump with high amp. draw on start up.use a amp meter.then replace fuel pump.

30 amp fuse/ in box under hood

The 30 amp fuse is most likely for your starter. Check that the red thick wire (could be black as well) leading to the starter and starter solenoid is properly attached and is not touching anything that would short it out and therefore blow the 30 amp fuse. The short may even be inside the starter in which case it will need to be replaced or repaired. Hope this helps.
