There are two type's used , one is a circlip that will have a small hole in each end , as it is not a complete circle, these are removed with circlip pliers , the other is a barrel clip which slides over the clutchcylinder push rod and this does'nt completely make a circle either but has a cut out for a ball bearing in the rod to pop into , just have to depress the ball bearing whilst applying pressure upwards on the clip it will then slide over the ball bearing and off the end , hope this is of help

SOURCE: problem with clip that holds clutch cable on to pedal

where is the clip at on the car? do you have a clutch cable or is it hydraulic? If it is a cable and the clip is on the outside the passenger compartment replace the clip and adjust the play in the cable there should be about a 1/4" play. If it is and self adjusting when you need to replace the cable.

try opening the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder so that you are not trying to press against the pressure plate when you push the rod into the master cylinder.

Removing the factory clip on the brake booster pad for a 98 GMC Sierra

This is a little tricky, if it is the round type as I recall...
The best way to remove it is rotate the clip till you locate small hole/opening. Insert a small punch into clip and open it up/spread the clip apart. It best to purchase a new clip (cheap) before removing the old one. Install the new clip with a flat blade screwdriver by pushing straight onto pedal rod. .

Does not have a neutral safety switch , it has a clutch inhibit switch. It is located at the top of clutch pedal and is threaded into a bracket or is on the rod that goes from clutch peadl to master cylinder.

Excursion limited edition. Brake lights stay on.

Check that the pedal height isn't sagging due to low brake fluid level. Also check for adjustment of the brake light switch or the BPP (Brake Pedal Position) switch.

Brake Pedal Position (BPP) Switch Removal & Installation To Remove:
  1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
  2. Disconnect brake pedal position (BPP) switch electrical connector.
  3. Remove self locking pin.
  4. Remove switch from brake master cylinder push rod.
  5. Remove push rod spacer.
  6. Remove push rod bushing.
To Install:
  1. Install push rod bushing.
  2. Install push rod spacer.
  3. Install switch to brake master cylinder push rod.
  4. Install self locking pin.
  5. Connect electrical connector.
  6. Connect battery negative cable.

In order to start my pickup, I must press down on the clutch pedal. The switch mechanism that allows me to start the vehicle is I suspect misaligned for it requires a very HARD depression on the clutch...

Maeriz1,

Yes you can adjust it yourself. It is not difficult except for getting at it one must be a contortionist. The switch is located somewhere under the Instrument Panel or in some cases under the Hood near the firewall dependant upon what make and model the vehicle is. It will be mounted typically close to where the Clutch Push-Rod goes through the floorpan. Adjusting it requires loosening the Mounting Screws and re-positioning the switch so that it is actuated sooner. Typically move it in the direction opposite the direction the Clutch Push Rod travels to release the clutch. If the vehicle is equipped with a Hydraulically actuated Clutch, the Switch will be located near the bottom of the Instrument Panel with an Arm attached to the Clutch Pedal near the pivot point, Move the Switch closer to the actuating arm. I sincerely hope this information helps you.

2001 sonoma parking brake petal wont lock into place

There's a ratchet in the top of the pedal which holds the pedal down when depressed. This ratchet is worn, broken, loose, or it just needs lubricating. I would first try WD-40 on the top of the pedal where it attaches to the frame/chassis.
