The neutral safety switch is located on the transmission. If it is by-passed the vehicle may not start as the computer will be looking for an input signal to assure the vehicle is in a park or neutral state. Why do you need it by-passed?

Usually the switch doesn't fail completely. Will it start in neutral if it doesn't start in park?

The neutral switch will cause a no crank condition. It shouldn't cause a crank and no start condition

Ok do you have any ideas on what my problem could be then

If the vehicle has fuel and spark it should run as long as compression is good. Have you checked actual fuel pump pressure? You may be getting fuel but not enough. Put a pressure guage on the fuel rail and take a reading. It should be at least 50lb

SOURCE: Can i buypass the nuetral saftey switch on my 99 durango

you can but as it is a safety requirement it would be very unwise to do so as it can start in any gear and that will cause serious injury and death if any one is in the vicinity when the car starts and moves off

Bypass neutral safety switch grand am

I would first want a refund from that dealer.
Yes it could be the neutral safety switch. You could try cranking it in neutral, or bypass that switch. Could also be something with the anti-theft system if the security light is flashing.

I gotr a 98- 4L60E trans in limp mode & want to bypass neutral saftey switch. Can you help?

Bypassing the neutral safety switch won't help with the transmission problem. That switch is only wired into the start circuit.
Scan the computer for trouble codes. Has to be a code if it is in limp-in mode.

How do I bypass the neutral safety switch on my 95 Pontiac Grand Am ECU?

There are 4 wires that go from the switch to the computer.
Gray A25 - Yellow A26 - white A19 - and blk white A27.
But the wiring diagram does not say what they do.
Are you sure you need to bypass something ?

My 2001 porsche boxter S 3.2 will not start in park, but will start normally in neutral, does anyone know why? (it's an automatic)

1.Shifter linkage could be out of adjustment, and not allowing the Neutral safety switch to be bypassed, when in the Park position.

The shift linkage, could move the arm of the neutral safety switch far enough, to bypass it when the shifter is in Neutral, but not far enough when the shifter is in Park.

2.Perhaps the Neutral safety switch is bad, or has come loose on it's mount, and is out of position.
