Check your owner's manual. Usually means there is a problem with the anti-theft system.

I have a symbol showing like a key shape

It could mean multiple things depending on what make and model and year of vehicle and color of the key symbol. If you could provide that information, I would try my best to help you answer the question.

What is the red hand flashing symbol?

Anti-theft system light ! Your best bet is to have it towed to dealer or have a mobile locksmith come by an check it out . There is nothing you will be able to do to fix it.

2006 cadillac says " service

check out this link. It will help you understand the system. There is a section on this link called "quick fix". It describes a 10 minute trick. Perform this trick 3 times in a row without trying to start the car in between. Turning the key back to the off position after each ten minute cycle. This is a complete passkey reset. After the 3 rd time, turn back the key and then turn it forward and try to start it. The whole process will take around a half hour. If this doesn't work, you'll need to take it to a dealer. Good luck.

My 2003 Sunfire 2.2 won't start, it will rollover, a lock symbol shows on the dash

do u have an owners manual? this is the security system warning symbol, you have been locked out, try this reset procedure, if that doesn't reset the key code then you will need a dealer to hook up a GM scasnner and see what the problem is.
1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the PASSKEY system to recognize your key.

My boneville 94 doesn`t start

If you have an alarm system in your vehicle ,it may have to be serviced. Also your vehicles car key may be dirty or damaged. Try using a different key. Some keys have chips installed in them.
