First....Do you keep regular maintenance up on the car? For example do you have the oil changed regularly? There are a host of things that should be done to keep fuel mileage to its best. Tire inflation to proper settings (look on the door jam drivers door. a sticker will tell you proper PSI for your cars tires) Fuel filter change , air filter change, PCV valve, tune up, are all things that need to be done to keep your car running at its best. What mileage are you getting now? How many miles are on the car now?

Did you use a aftermarket O2 sensor or a genuine Hyundai one? If it's an aftermarket one it may be bad or not as good as the OEM one. See here for more details and other potential causes: P0133

P2626 O2 Sensor Pumping Current Trim Circuit/Open (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

I'll sure this has to do with a faulty O2 sensor. This sensor is usually located around the header of your car, or down more on your exhaust.

Try disconnecting your battery for 30 mins, hook it back up, and start your car again. This will erase the error. See if it comes in again.

Hope this help (remember rated this post).

The fuel filter is located in the fuel tank. It is part of the fuel pump module. It is not considered serviceable. It gets changed when the fuel pump is replaced.

Have you checked your fuel filter and fuel pump to be sure that they are functioning correctly? That is the first place you should start.

Can't find the transmission filter on a 2001 elantra gls

If you drop the trans oil pan there should be a screen that can come out and be cleaned. Alot of cars do not have an actual "filter" for the trans fluid, just a screen that you can use a "brake cleaner" to clean off and put back when you replace the fluid.

If the filter is not at the tank, under the access panel, under the rear seat, then it is inside the tank.

I think idle speed control actuator must also be checked.
If you are not familiar with such repairs better take it to an authorized service shop.

1.
fuel pump revoval Remove the rear seat cushion. 2. To reduce the internal pressure of the fuel lines and hoses, first start the engine and then disconnect the electrical fuel pump connector. Be sure to reduce the fuel pressure before disconnecting the fuel main pipe and hose otherwise fuel will spill out. 3. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal of the battery. 4. Remove the high pressure hose and fuel return hose. 5. Remove the fuel pump assembly. cb98972.gif
