SOURCE: fuel gauge does not work is it my fuel pump

Nope, it's your fuel pump. If it's stuck in one place and doesn't move at all than yes, it is the floater, but if it fluctuates and tells you that you're empty most of the time than it is, in fact, your fuel pump itself. That fix will be about 130 for the fuel pump, and about the same for the labor to put it on seeing as how they have to drop the gas tank. If it's the floater than you yourself could drop the tank if you have the tools and a little know-how, and then just dis-lodge the floater and Abra kadabra, it's fixed.

hope it helps.

Fuel gauge not working

If your Fuel gauge is not working you may need a new fuel sensor or floater that tells the amount of gas in the tank which that is located in the tank so you would have to remove your gas tank and replace it some sensors or floaters may also be on the fuel pump.

Fuel gauge is not reading correct and my miles per tank is going up like 289 to start after fueling i drove 5 miles home and now my rang is 3012

These vehicles has problem both with instrument cluster (guage) and fuel sensor(floater) which is part of fuel pump: remove gas tank and move the floater and observe or use you scanner to see if instrument cluster gauge moves accordingly: My personal recommendation is buy a new pump on-line $106.00 and install new gauges as well: on line $120.00 or call me Alex-619-474-2550

IS THE FUEL PUMP HOUSING IN THE TRUNK?AND IF SO, HOW DO I TAKE THE PUMP OUT?THE PUMP WORK BUT MY FLOATER IS STUCK

The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. You have to remove the tank first before you can replace the float and the pump.

Electronic gas gauge Gives wrong reading, after replacing fuel pump and floater.

instrument cluster is just for monitoring. but on modern cars there can be integrated circuits to calculate the actual amount of fuel inside tank. so sender sends signals and dashboard decodes it and show the amount on gauge.

which car do you have? if it is a later model with such system you may need to reset related software to match with new sender unit on pump or floater. (dealer can do this for you)

for example if you have a new daylight driving lights(LKM) controller on new BMW's if you replace it with a new one you need to code it to match with your car. if not it wont operate correctly.,

But there is an exeption. when sockets are broken or connections are wrong, fuel and temp gauges act erratic. they jump, pulsate or dont work at all. before replacing anything more be sure that sender unit or whole asembly is the correct part for your car. second be sure that connection has been done correctly.

My 99 gmc yukon fuel guage doesnt work and i here u can bend the contacts on the floater closer and it would be fine but where are the contacts on the floater and my fuel pump is new so whats the problem

The fuel sender is with the pump module assy. You say the fuel pump is new, did you replace the fuel module or just the pump? is this a new problem after you replaced it or was it there before? Never replace just the pump.

your floater may be malfunctioning because of wear or bending unluckily the floater is on the inside of the fuel tank located on the fuel pump housing.

I have a 1991 geo metro. when i have a full tank of gas, the fuel gauge hand shows only half full. What causes this to happen?

The floater gauge is sticking. This is part of the fuel sending unit which has your fuel pump connected to it. Try using a fuel additive like seafoam or chevron techron to see if it frees it up, if not the unit will need to be replaced.

Where is fuel pump on 1996 960 Volvo?

The fuel pump of 960 is inside the tank attached together with the floater. There is a screen filter attached to the floater which need to be cleaned/changed from time to time. The outside filter is situated under the carriage. To know when the pump about to give problem, there will be a grinding/hissing sound.
