Question about AC Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 2000 SL1. There seems to be no air flow thru all the vents. When I turn the ac on, I feel something. When I turn on the heater in cold weather, I feel something. Confused. Help please!

Thank you for your response. Sorry about the late reply. As far as I know, when the car isn't running, I can hear the click sound of the blend door actuator switching. When I start the car, I can feel heat coming from the vents when requested. When I turn on the ac, I only check for the dashboard vents, slightly cool to touch, bt really no hard or forced air, especially on high.

Usually a problem with the temp controller or a blend door.
The blend doors control air flow thru the heater and ac evaporator along with the vents.

The a/c dont working only heater

If the compressor is running and one of the ac lines is cold, you probably have a blend door stuck or faulty in the HVAC box under the dash. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and evaporator core as well as thru the vents.

Heat coming from vent when nothing is on. AC is noisy when turned on but is not blowing out cold air. What is causing this?

Could be a blend door problem. On most modern cars the coolant flows thru the heater all the time, and the HVAC system controls the cabin temp by opening and closing vent doors. When you turn or slide the temp selector it makes the blend door or doors open and close for the heater core and A/C evap.
I would have someone check under the dash and see if the doors are moving.

Heater doesn't work?

Your thermostat may not be working properly. Coolant flows thru your heater core where the blower motor blows that heat from the coolant thru your vents. If the coolant is not warm enough wich is a sign that your thermostat may be stuck open or opening too soo, your air may be colder than normal.

I had a problem with my 2000 ranger when I bought it. Air was coming out of defroster vents. Check for a vacuum hose that may be off under the hood. It uses vacuum to open the vents.

WILL NOT SWITCH AIR FLOW STUCK IN DEFORST VENT

when your car is in defrost it has an ac cycling it removes the moisture then sends the air over the heater core depending on how warm you set it you can feel warm or cold but the ac is always cycling...ridding the moisture...you need a good ac tech it will be okay...its just expensive going into the heater core if needed...!

Heater not working

I would check if your vent to the outside is open. If it is I would check the vacum hose that controls the vent to open and close.

Heater working improperly

Check the actuator motors on the heater, there is two one for passenger and one for driver side. They allow the air to be directed from the heater or ac.
