Rear end went out on 2000 tundra need instructions how to install it

Block the front tires, jack up the rear end. Remove driveshaft from rear end. Loosen but do not remove the leaf springs and the shock absorbers. Remove the brake lines and the emergency brake cable. Return vehicle to ground and finish removing the leaf springs and the shock absorbers. The vehicle will have to be slightly raised to do this. The other option is to replace the ring and pinion as a unit which requires a completely different set of instructions. What will you be doing, replacing the entire axle and housing or just the ring and pinion?

2007 toyota tundra a/c clutch won't engage. Is there a fuse or relay?

Hi Jim, When that happens it usually means that the gas has leaked out and the pressure in the system is too low to operate. There are pressure sensors in the system for just that reason. Have the pressure checked, or if you live somewhere where you can buy the do it yourself kits, purchase one and check the pressure. If not you would do well to go see a refrigeration technician. There are relays and fuses but the most likely cause is the one I've mentioned. Regards John

My 2000 mustang seems to have sprayed out looks like freon from somewhere and now doesn't work. Where might have this come from?

Hello, There are several places that can leak. What you see staining the engine compartment is most likely compressor oil that came out with the Freon. Any part of the system can leak.

The A/C system has a series of hoses connected with "O" rings and you need a special tool to replace a hose or replace an "O" ring. Now Autozone, Advance, and Oreilys autoparts have tool loaner programs. You would have to check to see if they have that tool. Once you find your leak, you probably will need it as the components, big or small have that type of connector.

There are some kits which help find leaks. My preference is a UV light kit ($20) which has a can of Dye that will do 4 or 5 Applications and has a set of yellow goggles and a UV penlight. It does not take much, but you will need to jump the low pressure compressor switch to get the dye to circulate and may need to add a sacrificial can of Freon($10-$14) to get pressure for the test.

Since the price of Freon has gone up, my advice for leaks has changed. There are Sealing kits for the A/C system, from $10 to $35 Dollars. If you want to detect the leak add another $8 to $20.
Then if it is a hose leak, you will need to order it. You will need to purge the system of air with a loaner Vacuum pump(Autozone). Then add an Oil charge $5-$8 and fill with 2 or 3 cans of Freon at $10 to $14 each.

You will pay for the Freon regardless, whether you do it or have someone else do it. But if you pay someone to fix it you will not have to buy Leak detectors, sacrifice Freon for a test, obtain a loaner Vacuum pump, or chase parts down. With Freon selling for $10 a can more this year than last, it costs to DIY.

If you take it to a place, ask what they will charge if it is just an "o" ring and see what kind of answers you get. Then pick a place using that answer.

Location of oil filter

The 2007 Tundra 5.7l engine doesn't have a spin on filter - it uses a replaceable paper cartridge within a permanent housing. Located under the skid plate on the front-left portion of the engine, the oil filter unit has two coolant hoses, a black plastic screw-in housing, and a large, metal, round screw with a 1/2" square fitting in the middle of it. The cartridge-type oil filter is in the housing.

If equipped with a skid plate, access is accomplished by removing the 5 skid plate bolts, allowing the plate to swing down on integrated hangars (with the front plastic bumper skirt still attached). To completely remove the skid plate, three small screws holding it to the front plastic bumper skirt must also be removed.

Toyotafilter kits contain a new filter cartridge, a plastic drain plug, and two O-rings. The drain plug is used to drain residual oil from the filter unit prior to removing the plastic screw-in housing. After removing the large, metal, round screw with a 1/2" square fitting in the middle of it, the plug simply snaps into the bottom of the plastic housing. The smaller of the two new O-rings replaces the existing O-ring on the screw.

Once drained, the plastic screw-in filter housing is removed using a filter wrench (Toyota special service tool). The larger of the two new O-rings replaces the existing O-ring on the screw-in housing. VERY CLOSE ATTENTION must be paid in placing the new O-ring - failure to properly seat the new O-ring could result in a massive oil leak! The filter itself is currently only available from Toyota.
