Question about 2000 Ford Windstar

Idle is rough, smoothes out around 2000 RPM, still there not as bad. Idle is below 800 RPM, not charging battery enough, checked moter mounts, mounts ok.

Could be multiple issues. First, is the check engine light on? If so have the codes read and fix those issues first. Could be the idle air control, could be a vacuum leak, could be the egr valve, could be the throttle position sensor, could be it is in extremely bad need of a tune up. This can also be caused by a dirty or bad Mass Airflow Sensor.
What ever the issue is, it will more than likely be a vacuum driven device that is the culprit or a sensor that is reporting incorrectly to the computer. Normally, alternators charge at 600 rpm so if the alternator light is on above 600 RPM your alternator more than likely is bad. Just as an odd fluke, have the battery checked.A loose plate in the battery causing an internal short can cause some crazy issues.
Most auto parts stores will check your battery for free and many will read your trouble codes for free as well.

800 RPM is not bad and is enough to run the alternator. What you need to check is the idle air speed motor.

2000 ford escort 2.0L. plugs, wires, coil pack, alternator, MAF sensor. hard to start and RPM around 1k wants to die (any stops) always runs rough. Says air intake sensor. catalytic converter or CCRM?

Have you cleaned the throttle body and throttle body valve? have you cleaned the idle speed control air bypass valve? are the injectors clean? Are there any fault codes in memory, do the things I mentioned if you haven't already. Also hard engine mounts can cause roughness at idle. Another thing is the timing belt tight?

Vibrations during idling

which engine.??? never post lacking engine ,here is why.
1.3 L G13B I4
1.5 L G15A I4
1.6 L G16B I4
1.8 L J18A I4
1.8 L BP-ZE I4
1.9 L XUD9 diesel I4

Ill answer in the generic and for GAS engines. only.
that is illegal RPM, the ECU regulates it to 800 all the time
that means the ECU can not regulate the RPM now, for many reasons.
and sure it vibrates too low, that is normal for all 4cylinders to do that.
no bad engine mounts never lower RPM to 600, ever.
they dont control idle speed at all.
the #1 reason for most cars to idle too low are:
1: EGR leaks, (clean it)
2: ISC stuck closed (electric idle speed acututor dirty) clean it.
3: gross misfiring , caused by bad spark or bad fuel mix.
4: low compression on 1 or more cylinders (real low) Do compression test at WOT. throttle.

I have a 95 mustang v6 that I got as a project. It had blown was gasket and ran rough at idle with lack of power. I redid heads and gaskets etc it runs great and has good power but still idles rough at...

Idling is too slow at 500 rpm.......think about at least 650 rpm to charge the battery and keep up inertia for better take-off power.
Find out how to increase rpm,whether it's a screw-stop adjustment or a timing problem. don-ohio (:^)

run a fuel pressure test, if that checks out fine it may be a faulty coil pack or ignition control module

Rough idle at higher rpm smooth

You have a vacume leak somewhere. You can try to listen for it or you can get a can of brake parts cleaner and spray it around the engine. Anywhere there is hoses or connections of any kind. When you find the leak the engine RPM's will increase. If thats not the problem it could be your EGR valve is clogged or your map sensor could be bad. Those things would usually cause a check engine light. Vacume leaks wont. Good luck

Won't start, engine wont rev above 2000rpm

Have the alternator tested. You are providing a low charge to the battery when you jump it and when taking it above 2K RPM requires more amperage resulting in the engine dying and the rough idle
