I have known the tercel to go easily 250K. If the price is right it is a no brainer. Usually the rust wins before engine failure. Those late model 80's Tercels consistently got over 35mpg.

Please leave me good feedback if you think this helped.

They are inexpensive to repair and maintain, however they did have some problems with the carberators on those cars and the carbs were the exception when it comes to the cheap parts attained (new carb $428.00) I have heard people getting over 200,000 miles out of these little ugly ducklings rock on! As a matter of fact I own a 1986 4WD wagon 136,000 miles going strong

Have had an 88 Tercel for 16 years...had 45,000 on it when I bought it in 93/has 130,000 on it now and the engine and transmission sound beautiful.....I have had to do some body work on it to save it from further corrosion/(3M rubberized undercoating works fairly well)--people are right about the carbs being problematic, but I still LOVE this car! very, very reliable and durable!

Sounds like you jave taken care of it. You should get over 200,000 out of it. If you are still getting good mileage, it's still pretty sound.

95 grand am will not start new plugs and wires, new fuel injectors, new ecm and coils, new fuel pump.

Just a suggestion, but check high mileage 23 yrs maybe so, and is it with a timing chain or belt? 4 or 6 cyl.? if that's v-6 could be that it has jumped time. A 4 cylinder has belt and that can rot over time and break causing free-spin while starting. Hope this will put some ideas on you as where to turn next with your task :o) Thanks and Jesus loves you John 3:16-17 (KJV)

1986 plymouth horizon bad gas mileage

I really can't give much advice. Since you have modified the original configuration, you're really on your own. If you had a 4 gas analyzer you could monitor the exhaust gas and figure out if the carb is adjusted as lean as possible, and if the timing is correct for what you are trying to do.
Do you know if the vac advance is working on the engine computer ?
And the air intake heater on the air cleaner ?

I currently own a 95 Honda Accord I've found the feul economy is not great especially in the city I'm thinking of buying a 95 VW vento cl 1.8 I'm wondering how much better the fuel mileage would be?

These vehicles are comparable in gas mileage. To save more fuel you will need to downsize dramatically to notice any huge savings. With the rising cost of gas, this might be a tricky issue also... Hope this helped. Vote for me.

Is it a good idea to buy the toyota prius are they economical

Hello. Welcome to FixYa.

Id the Prius economical? Sure. They are great little cars, and the gas mileage is tremendous. Some of my customers are reporting up to 50 MPG on trips...pretty good gas mileage.

GIven the choice of a Prius, versus the other hybrids on the market, the Prius cannot be beat.

When the fuel light comes on, how many gallons are left in the tank on a 1986 4 RUnner

They all are different, but not much. Maybe a gallon or two. The only way to find out is take a jug of gas with you and run it dry. When the light comes on, mark down the mileage, and when it starts to die, mark down the mileage again, and do the math. Don't run it right out. When it starts to run poorly, or lose power, add your jug of gas right away.

HI I NEED YOUR OPINION OF A BUICK REGAL '96 V6 3.8L. I WANT TO BUY THIS CAR. MOSTLY OF THE PEOPLE SAYS ITS A GREAT MACHINE. THANKS.

it doesnt matter what anyone says. have a good repair shop check it out before you buy, not after. you dont want a car that has problems. a good shop will check it for you and make a list of what repairs it needs, and estimated cost. ask them their opinion, it they would not buy it, then you should'nt either.

New engine for '92 Camry wagon?

a new engine is $25-35,000 dollars(if Toyota even has them) The rebuilt engines are very good. 3 yrs-unlimited miles on repairs/replace engine. Get a name brand engine like Jasper or Atk or BulletProof or Gopher. These ARE Toyota engines rebuilt(sometime better than original) The transmission has evidently been a great one(mine has 185,000 miles).

You've done great on this car. But to replace engine and transmission; you looking labor and parts:$7-8,000. If you fix it, it will last forever, and you'll know it's good.

Or you could buy a certified used Toyota, and buy an extended warranty.

The only other thing is to buy new-$20-25,000 for a new Camary v/6 ( I don't know if they even make the wagon anymore)

I hope this has helped. Good Luck with whatever you decide.
