Open up the tail gate, you will see two torque screws on the inside beside the tail lights. take these out, this will free up the housing and you can change it from there.

CHECK MAKE SURE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FUSE OR NEUTRAL SAFETY FUSE HAS BLOWN.IF ALL IS GOOD.PROBLEM IS IN MANUAL SHIFT CABLE.OR THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH OR NEUTRAL SWITCH IS BAD.

Pappapumpdaf has the right idea,,, crawl under there and grab hold your drive shafts and check the slop in movement,,, its highly likely that your U-Joints (at the ends of the shafts) are worn ,,, just a few bolts and you can swap them out pretty quick pending on rust and such,,, Good Luck Pgood62

All the shift solenoids are in the transmission. You will have to remove the oil pan from the bottom of the transmission to access these. All the solenoids are on a package/ housing. They come off as a unit. You can replace these one at a time, but you really need to know what your looking for. It could be a bad solenoid , bad wiring in the transmission, bad connection at the plug going to the transmission, bad wiring going to the transmission. Computers will pop out a code, but you have to check everything that is related to that sensor/ solenoid.
