Wont crank or cranks perfectly but will not start and run, (turns over ? means zero)
why not post your country, as each country runs different engines,!!! or tell us what engine is there?

and ignore posts that say pistons hitting valves, does not stop cranking (wow)
some are Interference engines !!! a hard fact...

or wild comments about push rods..... wow 2.

best is not to crank it any more unless you want more parts bent !!

skipping CAM belt service is real bad.
this car has these engines. (we cant guess them, ever)
1.4 L E-TEC I4 (petrol)
1.6 L E-TEC I4 (petrol)
1.8 L Family II I4 (petrol)
2.0 L Family II I4 (petrol) ????? L34 GM name.
2.0 L RA 420 I4 (diesel)

if in USA its usually the 2.0L (are you?) or in Canada?
read the wiki on Forenza. and sell it when fixed. AS Suzuki cars are dead in uSA and canada."chapter 11 dead"
it's the new Yugo/Daewoo/Isuzu of the world. here.

sell it and get a toyota.. really.

if you continue to crank it , you pound the rod and crank bearings for DAMAGE too, not just valves bent and pistons battered to H3LL.

Timing belt should not cause no turn over but perhaps if it is that you won't incure more damage like bent push rods or bent valve stems as we did several years back that cost 6000 to fix and took 3 months to get parts from Japan .get it towed to a dealer or your mechanic asap

if in usa, the engine may be
2.0 L four-cylinder D-TEC made by General Motors, and is INTERFRENCE ENGINE.
see the horror of this fact here. (USA car)
youtube.... one more blown engine, due to ZERO service and maintenance by owner.
    (a real false economy that)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO7DTfcY...

we can buy used engines here, at any wrecking yard. there is no need to import engines from japan, my guess is you got ripped off. big time. 6K. wow., there is no dealer. suzuki is chapter 11 USA and in Canada, no new cars sales. and parts buys? OMG.
but yes, get any ASE shop to do the tests. warn them it's an Interference engine (he knows) but say it loud, so they they don't forget at YOUR COSTS
but nobody posts their country here ever, so all costs and parts and all that are just useless data. here. what needs to be done, on most DOHC engines is to do a CYLINDER leak down test , with shop air and tool by HAND, so you do not do more damage.
that is what we do to all DOHC, engine.
    and the customers win.

oh it was a brand new car and warranty work but took 3 months to get the parts from japan Mitcibushi for a dodge colt wagon

  • Anonymous May 17, 2015

thats because they only use new parts and only new suzuki parts. in a real shop not under warranty, we have rebuilt engines here, in USA> and the OP car is 10 years old so is not new.

  • Anonymous May 17, 2015

you lunched a new car engine in under say 100k miles, really?

  • Anonymous May 19, 2015

true on very old G10,s G16 Suzuki engines.
from 89-98, the single cam old engines were free running,, fact. but not J engines, and many other DOHC, the crash if not serviced.

  • Anonymous May 21, 2015

when the cams lose time. the pistons hit the valves and then engine will not spin hand turned, and if starter turned the damage CASCADES, on most DOHC engine, (not mazda 1.8)made..... tis a fact of life....

You need to be more specific when you say it wont turn over it mean is not starting to try to quench there's a difference is turning over but it won't start or I won't turn over at all could be a bad starter or could be motor lot could have ran low on oil and left engine be more specific will it turn over and just not start could be a problem with timIMG belt

true, the word phrase turn over , means NOTHING at all,
some think it means not running
    other think starter dont turn
others think crank shaft dont turn over.
a useless phrase of the century..... totally.

I need an detailed image of a ignition system for a mitsubishi montero sport 2000 3.0 6 cylinders

details are only 2 places, the FSM, Factory serv. man.
and alldata.com
you can look any time. sure can.

enigine stalls, did you give at tuneup first the 60k mile column?
if not, why not now?>

STALLS 101 (can be very complex. 50+ causes , but a few tests)
  1. can you save the stall with a fast right foot, (all time top check and 100% free to do...??????)
  2. Did the lights go dead at the stall , radio , head lamps dim, yes, do test this stalls issues, with head lamps on and dash fan. It the still work at the stall , that means you have 12vdc power, the loss of which kills dead any EFI cars engine.
  3. The car 2000, year, and as such as dirt cheap scan tool fits the port (16pin) near knees. you get a tool easy, everyone here in USA can do this easy, and not doing so, misses the BOAT. you can see why it failed at that moment. EG: lost CMP/CKP sensors, see DTC error, like P0300s.gross misfire, etc. gee LOOK and do not work blind, why miss these key facts?
  4. Lost compression hot.? 1 or all 6 cyl.
  5. lost spark 1 or all 6? tests. DTC errors. manual checks tuneup time.
  6. Lost fueling and flooding, Spark tips show flooding easy, LOOK.

keep in mind, i dont have #1 info above, and is key to ALL this.
Hints:
the EFI works over time to prevent stalls, so the problem is serious
the stalls can be , lack of air, ISC stuck closed (fast foot tells you)
or the ECU sees and error and decides to cut fuel.
the ECU does that on all cars, for 2 thinks, it THINKS spark is bad or
the TPS is stuck at 4v. or more.
Stall scan be engine runs so bad, the ISC can not raise the idle more. and stalls, (EGR stuck open)
a scan tool can be had for 9 bucks. (fleabay)

Wheres the ignition coil located

If you suspect the coil than the car is turning over and not starting. Your description implies that the starter is not cranking the engine over which would not be a coil issue. I know it's petty but if you had you car towed into a shop and a diagnosis preformed based on your description there would be a substantial difference in the diagnostic charge. The ignition coil is located in the distributor behind the distributor cab. There should be power to the coil on both wires with the key on. You can check this with a test light. One of the wires should make the test light flash when you crank the enigine over. If there is no flash it is not the coil. Also make sure the rotor is turning when you crank the engine over. If it is not turning check the timing belt. If there is no power to the coil let me know and I'll get you some more info. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

It stalls when i am driving slow most of the time it restarts but last night it took multible times and the service enigine light is now on again

This sounds like a Camshaft or Crankshaft Position Sensor is failing, but can be any multitude of problems. Get the Check Engine Light scanned and report back what code you are getting.

Car stalled while stopped. The camshafts are not turning when you crank the enigine over but the crankshaft does?

The timing chain and/or belt has broken. Try replacing it. This may or may not be able to be performed at home. We would need more information about the vehicle to tell you how to repair. eg: Vehicle make-model-year-motor size. Thanks for asking!

TRUCK RUNNING FINE THEN JUST QUITS. THEN STARTS BACK UP RUNS AWHILE THEN QUITS AGAIN

It might be the MAF sensor. I would try tapping on it while the vehicle is running to see if it will stall. Any check enigine light on?

Engine stalls

Common fault is the fuel relay. You can either replace relay 103 in the relay box, next to the fuse box, or repair it by replacing the two capacitors inside the relay housing.
