Start the vehicle and add fluid til it is at the full level. Turn steering wheel from left to right several times and turn off vehicle. Air should bleed from system with cap off fluid reservoir. Wait 5 minutes and top off fluid and install cap. System should be ok

Where is the bleed valve for a power steering box

Open the hood and check the level of the power-steering fluid by removing the power-steering reservoir cap. Add the correct fluid recommended in your owner's manual to bring the level up to the full mark. Be aware that fluid that looks foamy is an indication of air in the system. Replace the cap.
Locate the power-steering bleed valve on top of the steering box near the bottom of the engine bay. Follow the power-steering, high-pressure lines from the power-steering pump to the steering box if you have trouble locating it.
Push a 6-foot length of rubber hose onto the end of the bleed valve. Run the other end of the hose into a drain pan.
Start the engine. Loosen the bleed valve fitting slightly with an adjustable wrench in a counterclockwise direction. Turn the steering wheel all the way to its stop one way and then the other several times. Shut the engine off.
Close the bleed valve by tightening it with an adjustable wrench in a clockwise direction. Remove the power-steering reservoir cap, and add fluid to bring the level up to the full mark.
Observe the power-steering fluid that came out of the rubber hose into the drain pan. Repeat the above procedure if there are air bubbles in the fluid. Close the bleed valve and remove the rubber hose when there are no air bubbles in the fluid expelled from the bleed valve. Close the hood.

Replace power steering pump on 06 chevy uplander

I just finished replacing mine.

It is much easier if you do these steps:

1. Remove the serpentine belt.
2. Remove the nuts holding the main fuse box over the battery.
3. Remove the reinforcing bar over the battery.
4. Remove the battery.
5. Remove the windsheild washer tank.
6. Now you have access to remove the pump pulley. Without removing the stuff, it may be possible, but it will be extremely difficult.
7. Remove the pump pulley.
8. Loosen the high pressure hose fitting.
9. Remove the return line clamp.
10. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
11. Remove the high pressure hose fitting.
12. Remove the power steering pump while sliding off the low pressure hose.
13. Remove the clips holding the reservoir on the pump.
14. Remove the reservoir.
15. Install new o-ring on the reservoir.
16. Install reservoir on new pump.
17. Install clips to hold reservoir on pump.
18. Install new o-ring on high pressure fitting.
19. Place new pump in position while sliding on low pressure hose.
20. Loosely attache high pressure fitting.
21. Tighten pump to mounts.
22. Tighten high pressure fitting.
23. Install clamp on low pressure hose.
24. Install power steering pulley.
25. Install washer reservoir.
26. Install battery.
27. Install reinforcing cross member.
28. Install fuse panel.
29. Install serpentine belt.
30. Bleed the power steering system.

How to install power sterring pump

first you need to remove power steering pump drive belt and fluid using a large syringe or siphon pump.then you need place drain pan under vechicle where power steering pump located, remove power steering return line and remove power steering pressure hose using a flare nut wrench, make sure drain pan catch power steering fluid. once you have the power steering pump return hose and pressure hose remove, then remove power steering pump mounting bolts then remove power steering pump.take old power steering pump and new power steering pump to machine shop or garage so they can transfer drive pulley from old power steering pump to the new pump, once you have new power steering pump ready to install be sure to buy new pressure hose o ring if equipped, you need to bleed power steering system once you have new pump in place with every thing back in place cant give you bleeding procedure you did not tell me vechicle type you working on.

I WILL LIKE TO KNOW HOW CAN I REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP ON A 2001 CHEVY MALIBU

1. Remove serpentine belt

2. loosen power steering pressure and return hoses

3. Remove nut from pressure line mounting on alternator bracket

4. remove power steering pump mounting bolts.

5. Lift pump assembly from engine mounting and remove hoses.

6. Reverse order to install. Fill and bleed system.

NOTE: A new or rebuilt power steering pump will most likely not come with a pulley attached. You will need a power steering pulley remover/installer tool to transfer the pully from the old pump to the new one.
