Car will not turn on like battery is dead but battery has full charge

type and year of is helpful so we`ll go generic----start by checking the connections at battery for corrosion or damage if good than check power to starter if none check wiring and connections also check power from ignition switch as well as fuses.also try turning key to accessory step on brake and move shifter to neutral than try starting if starts shifter may be out of adjustment or damaged this would be your basic troubleshooting for dead type battery when battery is fully charged but always recheck your battery that it is fully charged

I have a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville I was driving home with no trans problems what so ever.put the car in park went in the house got up the next morning started the car put in gear and felt nothing car has no...

I think you have a shifter cable problem. Engine off. Put the shifter into gear back and forth if under the hood at transmission cable if it moves. There is an adjusting system on the cable could be stripped or not lock.(It pop up then free cable action).

Hope it helps.

Just changed my starter and battery and battery connectors on my 2000 dodge caravan and just getting a click noise. Before I had put this starter I had on now the auto parts store sold me the wrong starter...

check to see if the other starter you put on drained your battery that is usually what the click means is that the battery doesnt have enough juice to make the starter turn your engine over its just got enough to make the starter try to engage and as soon as the load of the engine is put on it cant do anymore, so check your battery make sure its has a good charge. if your battery is charged and you still only get the click noise then you need to make sure all your connections are tight and are making good metal to meatal contact so that the electricity can flow through it all properly and the voltage from the battery can get to the starter

Got new battery and starter ran for 2 days, then unable to start. had to jump it. but would not continue running. any ideas

If it will run with a boost hooked up, or with battery fully charged, then alternator needs to be tested. Charge battery back up, check and record voltage before starting ,then start it and check voltage when engine running . It should increase when engine is running, otherwise something wrong with alternator itself, or wiring to or from it. Clean and inspect wiring to be sure.

Place the car in neutral and try to start it. Any vehicle will start in neutral. If the vehicle still does not start you can assume that the starter is bad.

My van clicks and won't start it's a 97 dodge caravan it has a new battery

It could be a bad Starter Solenoid or Starter, or even a weak Alternator that is not fully charging the Battery when the engine is running. Make sure all connections to the Battery and Starter are tight and there is no corrosion present. Make sure the battery is fully charged and if your car is running your Alternator is at least showing 13 to 14 volts on a Volt Meter, or your Instrument Panel Gauge. Check that your Alternator Belt is tight too.

Transmission will not go into gear causing car not

Are you saying that the shifter itself is not working correctly? Try putting the trans in neutral and see if the engine will start. If so, you may have a bad neutral safety switch.

If this does not help, or the shifter itself is not working smoothly, you possibly have a linkage issue.
