Question about 2008 GMC Yukon Denali

1 Answer

The dome light does not come on when the rear passenger door opens. All other doors work fine only problem is this one door. There is not a visible door switch. Is the switch part of the latch?

It is a switch in the latch. So the latch needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: rear passenger exterior door handle will not open

Im assuming you have auto close function on this vehicle ? Ther is a limit switch built into the latch assy ! Often times it wears out or gets dirty ! There is no repair but to replace the latch assy ! As to the handle is it a pull or push button type ! If its a pull then the release rod may have come off due to a broken retaining clip ? If its the push button type you will need a tech 2 scan tool to look at the information on the back door release switch to verify that its sending the request signal for release or you can take the rear panel off and disconnect the switch and ohm it out to see if its working but that will only tell you if the switch is working ! In the push button system it sends the signal to the bcm to release the door that is why i recommend you take it to the shop that has the capability to run this self test - it will save you money and time in the long run !

Ford f-150 2003/when driver door open the dome light does not turn on

If it works when passenger door opened either the driver switch is stuck, or bad---give that one some W-D 40 to see if it helps or not.

The dome light does not turn off and the door ajar

the problem is door ajar switch located on one of the door latches just inside the door. what usually works is spraying wd40 or an electronic lubricant prayed liberally into the door latch and then opening and closing the door several times. the stuck switch is usually on the door that is the least used door like the passenger side rear. let us know how you make out.

No dome light when passenger door open

Since the passenger door doesn't get used as much as the drivers door, check to see if the switch is not just stuck. It is a little button with a spring that opens up and turns the light on. It is located on the hinge area of the door and when the door closes it shuts off the switch, if it is not stuck then I would suspect said switch.

Dome light does not come on when doors open, but does when dim switch is rotated. The dome light bypass button has no effect on it.

All the door switches use the same wiring harness. It's an orange and a white wire. There is a switch on the dash to turn the dome and wheel lights off. If the lights come on with the dimmer, the whole harness is OK, so now check to see if that switch is turned off... or bad
