I'd probably have to double check your temp gage and go from there. What all did you replace? Other than your temp gage, any indications of overheating, like the engine smoking or coolant boiling over. Are you losing coolant? Does the radiator fan work? Did you check for coolant circulation. Check for combustion gases in the coolant.

How hot does it get in degrees F?

SOURCE: stuck in park, Land Rover Discovery

Had the same problem with my 03 Disco. Went through the usual, checking the fuses, etc. I went ahead and replaced my break light switch on the brake pedal. $15.00 fix, or I thought so; still had the problem! Took it in for repairs and found out it was fuses after all... To get the parking lock to disengage you need to pull of the housing, which is tough and then press in the locking pin at the base of the shift lever to shift out of park. you can do it with the engine running and it will drive just fine until you put it into park again. Check your brake lights if there is a problem. Could be a sign of the brake switch failure. In my case the lights were out, but a cheap trailer rental did the damage. The short in the trailer blew some fuses and it was a problem that cost me $60.00 at the repair shop....

SOURCE: default code P1451 Land Rover Discovery II

The code P1451 on a Land Rover is "Leakage Detection Module Motor power stage error Drive cycle A:Signal out of range - above maximum". This is an OBD-II diagnostic system code. As far as I know, a 1995 Land Rover Discovery does not use a OBD-II system. Is it possible that this rover is a later model year

You'll have to call the dealer have them pull the VIN to see if you have the latest and greatest software. Also you can check on the land rover website under owners put in the last 8 digits of your vin number and it will tell you if the BB8900 is fully compatible.

On my 2001 land rover how can I check if water pump is working?

Run the engine until it warms up. Feel the hose on the inlet side and if it is warm to the touch then water is being sucked in.

Land rover disco overheated(coolant hose broke on long trip) starts but knocks and has fluid leaking from top of radiator on battery side.

I can't say without looking at it, but probably yes.
If the engine had enough force in the cooling system to blow the hose, and the engine knocks, and it quits running its probably toast.
You would need to run a compression test to check the cylinders and run the engine with the radiator cap off to see how long it would take to get hot again, and to check for exhaust fumes in the cooling system.

Heater not to correct temp. Top hose getting hard.

Hi, sounds like you have a cooling flow problem, is the bottom hoses getting hot and the top hose hot or cold. If top is cold you could have a stopped up heater core or a restriction going back to intake. Have you ever flushed the cooling system if not is worth a try and what does your coolant look like in the radiator is it muddy looking or any thing like that. Thanks if i can help further just re post.
