Question about Cars & Trucks
The ignition circuit should be left alone, nothing added. If something must be added to the ignition circuit then a relay would be prefered. The ignition circuit feeds power to the ignition system and any extra load added to it may cause undesired effects.
The accessories circuit is more adequate and even then, the amount of power the add on controller needs is a factor. To avoid overloading any existing circuit a relay should be used. The relay uses a small amount of control current on the solenoid to switch power contacts to added loads.
Bottom line is suggest the use of a relay. Control the relay thru accessories circuit and a fused power wire from the battery is switched for added loads.
