If it is an amber light that says " anti lock" You will be safe, you just wont have anti lock brakes. The car may have traction controll. If so, look in the manual to be sure what light is on. As a general rule amber lights are warnings and red lights means stop. If the light stays on you will have to go to the dealer to have the code read.

6 short flashes seperated by one long flash indicates an erratic speed signal with the rear wheel antilock system. after performing any repairs, with key turned off, pull the stop/hazard fuse for 5 seconds to clear codes. the speed sensor is located towards the rear of the transmission on the driver's side

fuse panel is either on the fire wall inside vehicle behind park brake and brake pedal or horizontally right near there looking up by brake pedal, also try and see if brake switch behind brake pedal is adjisted properly you can see this switch and the plunger on switch at brake pedal in the same location

Sounds like your brake light switch, which is behind the brake pedal, may have failed. They are simple and inexpensive to replace.
It looks like a bracket, that wraps around the brake pedal arm, and it has a cylinder type switch that makes contact with the brake pedal arm. When the brake pedal is pressed down it pushes the cylinder switch together which closes the circuit and makes you brake lights come on.
