Hi,first of all you must have free things to start the engine
.air,fuel,spark.
first if you have one of these not working then the engine wont start, becouse you have already tried easy start with no joy I would say that you nead to check the ignition side for a spark.
all the best.

have you checked all ofyour fuses? usually when you hook up a battery backwads you end up blowing a fuse and or fry your alternator on older modeled vehicles as there is no protection for it.

SOURCE: Car simply will not start or fire

Assuming it's fuel injected, check your fuses (there is a fuse for the EFI and fuel pump). If the fuse is fine, then the issue is most likely your fuel pump (located in the fuel tank). You can change the fuel regulator (located under the air cleaner unit) but it sounds like a bad fuel pump.
If it's not fuel injected, please post back for other options.

Check fuel pressure, had this problem a year ago, bet the fuel pump is gone you should be able to hear the pump come on when you turn the key forward. You should hear it hum if not its dead, costly repair the pump, regulator and filt is all one unit.

SOURCE: wont start. has spark, fuel to fuel rail, new TPS,

Check injector pulsation at injector harness with test light, with key on, disconnect harness at injector check for voltage, then reverse test light at battery and on the other pin check for ground pulsation while cranking engine, should have pulsation, if none bad computer, injector pulsation control by computer.

Do real fuel pressure test using test gauge. You changed ignition module but not coil? Are you getting nice fat blue spark? When spraying starter fluid into intake it only tries to start which makes me think you have ignition problem.

Is this car fuel injected? If so there shlould be a flow sensor somewhere on the intake . Many of the patrs stores will loan an OBDI or II and you could do a diagnosis on the engine. This should indicate a faulty flow sensor among other problems.
Lots of luck.
I have the same year, model and engine with Automatic tranny, This was the year the Explorer replaced he Bronco and there seems to be a bunch of prototype parts. I just replaced the headlight/turn signal multifunction switch for $185.00. :(
Not a lot of information about this year. But it is a fun car :)

Well you first have to figure out if it is fuel or ignition and eliminate one or the other.
If you do not have spark at the plugs, check the coil for power and a ground signal from the igniter module. You may need a scanner to troubleshoot the ignition system.

FUEL PRESSURE MUST BE 62 LBS. OR GREATER OR IT WILL NOT GROUND INJECTORS, IF ITS OK THEN CHECK YOUR GRAY 12V SUPPLY TO PUMP AT CRANK-UP, YOU MAY HAVE A POOR IGNITION SWITCH.

since it did not fire when your husband sprayed starting fluid into the intake, then it is not getting spark, may be a coil, distributor, senor, plug/wires. Hope this helped Tim

My engiene cut out while driving and wont start it cranks but it wont start... i changed the ignition coil and the wires and the plugs nothing i sprayed starting fluid in the intake and nothing it cranks...

Did you check for good compression? You may have either jumped timing or have a broken timing belt. I would check engine compression first. If it's good then move on to checking your fuel and ignition systems.
