No. There is nothing in the steering column that would do that.

The battery itself could have gone bad. In which case it will not hold a charge.

Take it to a local Sears, Firestone, or Walmart with an Auto Service Center and have them do a free battery check. They can tell you if the battery itself needs to be replaced. Batteries wear out periodically and need to be replaced as a regular aspect of car maintenance.

91 chevy camaro battery and altanador keep draining and car wont start could it be in the steering coulum

I would get the alternator checked to make sure it has good voltage. It might be too weak to recharge the battery while running. The other issue could be a bad voltage regulator.

There is a ground somewhere in the electrical system. Or battery is dead or low in battery acid.

Does the air bag need to be disconnected when replacing a stearing wheel cruis control switch on a 2001 buick lesabre custom?

Anytime you are working on the steering wheel or steering column, the battery should be disconnected and the power drained from the car.
If a wire is shorted in the air bag circuit the bag could deploy.
Even if the ignition is turned off.
The standard procedure is to leave the door open and disconnect the battery, then wait 5 or 10 min to drain power from the car.

I left my car lights on and drained the battery. After charging the battery I turn the ignition key to start the car all the lights on the dash come on as they are supposed to but the car will not turn...

Use Jump Start method if you are able to get a battery temporary connection from other car Alternately, you can seek some one to push your car for a few feet while you release clutch in second gear slowly Car will start Do not turn it off for 10 minutes to enable your battery gets minimum charge

My 06 magnum sxt won't shift out of park, tried the release in the console. still no good, now I can't remove the key had to disconnect the battery,.

If its anything like my old VW car it may be the stearing lock thats preventing the car key from turning. Pull the stearing wheel one way as hard as you can then the other way then jiggle it while trying to get the key out of the ignition. Nothing to worry about, the lock in there just gets stuck sometimes.
