Take the car back to the incompetent mechanic and get him to undo what he did to the wiring previously and put it back to standard spec.

SOURCE: security system not working as it used to

i read this on the subaru tech bulletin page
i had the same problem - apparently i had inadvertently put the system into "valet" mode
to get back to normal, unlock with remote - open drivers door - hold down the unlock button on your remote for 2-3 sec - the flashing light will go out and your system should be back to normal
it's too bad the manual doesn't supply information about activating and deactivating "valet" mode
good luck

2000 saturn sedan horn will honk when key is removed from ignition. When horn relay is removed, headlights stay on. Also intermittent issues with car starting up, will turn over but not start, also key...

Possible bad ignition switch. Security is partly ignition as well as headlights r part of security all tied to ignition.

Should be looked at by certified mechanic. Not hard, but not easy fix either.

Security system on 2000 eclispe GT

Use the KEY (not the REMOTE) to UNlock the driver's door or the trunk. Then use the key to START the car, then shut it off. Finally, get out and LOCK the car using the mechanical KEY. That should clear the security system codes caused by disconnecting the battery!

There is a large rectangle item in my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse fuse box that is ticking. I have lost all power to the vehicle. What is the rectangle object. It has a the number MR 515944 imprinted on it.

I had this same thing occur with my eclipse with a battery that had been dead for a long period of time, so long that the security system was going off. The "fuse box" you're talking about is actually the relay box. Inside of it are a couple relays that are important: The "theft-alarm horn relay" and the "headlight relays". Most likely one of these are the source of the clicking. The good news is that if you hook up a new good battery, the anti-theft device will deactivate after a set period of time and the clicking should stop.

Replacing headlight assembly on 1999 mitsubishi eclipse

you don't have to remove the whole front end, some one is yanking your chain when you lift the hood there is three mounting bolts that attach the headlight assembly to the body remove those and then you are going to want to position your hands on the top and side of the headlight giving a gentle tug there is a clip on the bottom of the headlight that is what you are trying to break free good luck let me know what happens

If it's like mine, you should be able to find it sitting just to the left of the driver side headlight. Somewhere between the headlight and radiator. you may have to remove your factory air intake box to see it. I use a after market air intake so I can get to it with ease. Not hard to spot, should have a single wire attached to it. Hope this helps.
