Go to your local auto parts store, they have replacement lighters there.

If they can't find one that matches for you, go to your dealer. If they don't have one on the shelf, they can order one for you.

How to replace a cigarette lighter socket

Easiest thing on a car. The new cigarette lighter socket is provided in two pieces, which unscrew from each other. The original socket is exactly the same.
All you need to do is disconnect the positive power lead from the back of the old connector, unscrew the back of the old socket, remove the two pieces of the old socket from the ashtray assembly, put the new socket in place exactly as the old one was, and reconnect the positive power lead.
Should take you no more than five minutes.

I am wanting to re-install my cigarette lighter, the pervious owner disconnected it when installing a new stereo, I have bought a new lighter but have no idea on how to wire it in, plus i have no idea

Black is ALWAYS ground, in an automobile. So, the White/Blue is your power!
Black to black, and White/Blue to red. And your all set!
Also, some cars the ignition key has to be in the "Run" position for the lighter to work!

Cigarette lighter does not get hot. Replacement

there are two prongs inside the lighter socket that you can bend in a little bit, these usually stay out if you've left a phone charger in. use something non metalic to bend the tabs in or you will blow the fuse for the lighter socket, hope this helps

How do A wire a replacement lighter when THe old one is no longer there?

The red wire on the replacement lighter is the hot wire. Hook it into the fuse panel if you can't find the old lead from the original lighter. If there is a black wire on the new lighter it is a ground. If there isn't a black one you may have to install one to ground the lighter depending on how you mount it. Just hook it up to the nut on the lighter and ground it.

How do you change the cigarette lighter in a 2005 Grand AM

The hardest part is getting access to the back of the lighter. Once you get there you'll find a single wire pushed onto the back of the lighter. Pull it off and you will be able to unscrew the rear of the lighter by hand. Once the back is removed the remainder of the lighter housing will come out through the front. Reverse the procedure to install the new lighter.

I need to replace my Cigar lighter (I belived that is what Ford calls it). I would like to know how to do this. I have a new one to install just not sure how to go about it.

On the back side of the socket there is one wire. Remove this wire by carefully pulling it off the connector. The back of the lighter socket will unscrew from the lighter well. Should be a standard right hand thread. go to parts store and buy a new replacement part comes with directions and installation instructions.

Thanks for using fixya
