SOURCE: AUTO DIMMING MIRROR

The Donnelly mirrors use the same 7-pin plug as the Gentex, but the pin-outs are different. Here is the pin-out for the Donnelly mirrors:

Pin 1 - +12 volts
Pin 2 - Courtesy lamp input
Pin 3 - (varies depending on mirror features)
Pin 4 - (varies depending on mirror features)
Pin 5 - Reverse disable (+12 volts in reverse)
Pin 6 - Ground
Pin 7 - Demand lighting input

SOURCE: 2000 Buick Regal rear view

I had the same problem. My mirror has map lights so I disconnected the wiring harness from the mirror. I had trouble getting this done, but there is a small clip you must pull back to release the wiring. Once I had the mirror free the button that you must glue back on the windshield is attached to the mirror by a strong metal spring clip. I placed a screw driver under the button and popped it out of the clip. Make sure you mark the outside of the windshield first before you clean off the old glue so you will know where to glue it back. I just placed a small piece of duct tape on the outside windshield. MAKE SURE YOU GLUE THE BUTTON ON CORRECTLY, so the mirror will slide back on. I let the new glue dry for several hours before I tired to re-attach the mirror. The directions said 15 minutes, but that is not long enough. I also sprayed the clip with some WD-40 so it would slide on the button easier.
Hope this helps

Why is my heated auto dimming driver side and rear view mirror getting dark when driving

Look in the fuse box for the fuse it will likely have other things on it but nothing to high voltage .
Pull the fuse and see what happens .
Honestly I have never heard of this .
Unless the mirrors lit or damaged somehow from to much heat damaging the coating on the back of the glass making it not a mirror any more .
This sounds like a factory defect

Why doesn't my UConnect mirror work

At the dealership they have a scanner that see's the input or output of the mirror mic and can see if it is working,it will also store a fault code for it too,DVD player may be a different issue and may be related to the radio.

What is the button under rearview mirror for

The button on the bottom of the mirror is called the auto rear view dimming.

This button when turned on will dim the lights of the car behind you if they are bright lights. it is like the older cars where you would flip the lever on the bottom of the mirror if a car behind you had high beam lights on and it was shining in your eyes at night. this will do it automaticly hope this helps good day

My husband is about to go nuts with his "baby", 89 Toyo p/u, 2 wheel drive, auto trans, 3spd with overdrive...transmission will not stay in overdrive, well actually he has to keep manually...

Okay, theres a problem with this truck with loosing the overdrive and may be related to the work he has done but not his fault, theres a problem with a connection behind the powersteering pump, the splice in the wiring goes bad, this needs to be cut out and respliced, i enclosed a diagram to help locte this splice, i think from moving things around the connection went bad, and sometimes makes a connection and at times looses it, hope this is helpful.johnjohn2_23.gif

Mirrors won't Work

the mirrors most likely need to be replaced, rarely do the switches go bad. try replacing your key fob battery. do the doorlocks work from the master switch? and make sure the auto dim mirror is on. the little green light is hard to see sometimes.
