Cranks over gets fuel but no spark

Crank over eliminates a dead battery, switch, starter, etc.

How do you know it gets fuel? It is clearly the air/fuel mixture and ignition system that is failing. If those work but it died or stalled it would be a fuel system issue, such as bad MAP sensor, etc.

Fuel injection or not? Fuel injector do get dirty, I use Gumouts Complete Fuel System Cleaner to clean the whole fuel pathway but it may be too late for that this time. Anyhow, they need cleaning and they still use spark plugs to light the gas and those will get corroded over time but can easily be brushed clean. I've never had to clean my fuel injectors, try YouTube for those instructions.

What make injectors spray to much gas on a 92 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme 3.1

Possibly clogged injectors. You can try using a fuel injector cleaner in the fuel such as Berrymans B-12 in the gas tank and see if that will clean them up. If that does not work, you will probably have to take the vehicle in to a mechanic and havve the fuel injection system cleaned. Have you changed the fuel system filter on schedule? That is one key to keeping the injectors clean, along with using a good grade of fuel. Some fuels use a higher percentage of methanol or ethanol, and that scours your fuel tank, allowing all the residue into the fuel line, usually clogging up the fuel filter. If the filter is bad, some may get through and also clog the injectors. Had that happen on an older Buick my daughter drove.

2006 equinox fuel system flush

sounds like 100,000 mile service the fuel flush is a caustic pressurized cleaning of the fuel, valve train, emission ,and cylinders it is designed to clean the carbon and any build up on the fuel delivery system it is injected into the system and the shop or dealer can observe if and how well the cleaner is doing by using the diagnostic scanners to observe pressure changes in injectors and the differences in emissions its not like the over the counter type of cleaners which may not be strong enough to scrub like the commercial grade cleaners but it is a personal preference if u want ur fuel system cleaned most people i have known have never had it done unless they had a failure[emissions] due to carbon build up and a fuel type flush was the only way to really clean or clear lines

My 2003 Navigator fuel gauge is all over the place. All other gauges are fine. Any ideas why? Also, the red light for my gears is also out, whether I'm in park, neutral, or drive, the red light is...

First I suggest, in fuel tank, located the fuel sending unit and...
  1. Check connector at fuel tank for poor connection or signs of corrosion.
  2. Check all fuses in system.
  3. Verify ground circuit at fuel level connector.

If aparently this its ok, them there is a sensor in the fuel tank that goes bad, when it does it can give you a erratic readings. The fuel level sensor is mounted to the fuel pump but can be replaced by itself.

Fuel Level Sensor Replacement - Removal Procedure

Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.

Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement
Removal Procedure

Caution: Fuel Vapors can collect while servicing fuel system parts in enclosed areas such as a trunk. To reduce the risk of fire and increased exposure to vapors:
• Use forced air ventilation such as a fan set outside of the trunk.
• Plug or cap any fuel system openings in order to reduce fuel vapor formation.
• Clean up any spilled fuel immediately.
• Avoid sparks and any source of ignition.
• Use signs to alert others in the work area that fuel system work is in process.

Notice: Clean all of the following areas before performing any disconnections in order to avoid possible contamination in the system:
• The fuel pipe connections
• The hose connections
• The areas surrounding the connections

Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.

Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
Disconnect the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor electrical connector.
Remove the fuel tank pressure sensor.
Disconnect the fuel sender electrical connector.
Clean the fuel pipes, and fuel sender assembly to prevent possible fuel contamination during removal.
Disconnect the quick-connect fittings at the fuel sender assembly. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

Important: The retaining fuel sender assembly will spring-up when the ring is removed.
Use a breaker bar to unlock the fuel sender lock ring. Hold down the fuel sender and remove the fuel sender retaining ring.
Remove the fuel sender assembly.
Remove and discard the fuel sender seal.
Clean the fuel sender assembly sealing surfaces.
Inspect the fuel sender assembly sealing surfaces.zjlimited_527.gif

Keep in mind that the sensor runs around $120 at the dealership, labor is about $300 depending on the labor cost per hour where you have it replaced at.

Hope this helps.

1997 Cavalier 4 cylinder, Replaced Fuel Filter. Found extremely dirty. Car will run but seems to be starving for fuel. When trying to accelerate from idle will not do so.

if was that dirty and still having problems filter screen on fuel pump may be clogging as well as debris in lines have fuel pressure checked may have to change filter again as well as a possibility as to removing fuel pump and having fuel tank cleaned out --before going to drop tank try a heavy duty fuel system cleaner and a pressurized type of cleaner it injects a cleaner into the system usually used to clean injectors and carbon out of system good luck

Replace fuel filter

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. For details regarding this procedure, please refer to Section 5 of this manual.
  2. If not done already, disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Clean both fuel feed pipe connections and the surrounding areas at the in-line fuel filter with a clean rag to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.
  5. Using a backup wrench, remove the fuel line fittings from the fuel filter.
  6. Either separate the quick-connect fittings or remove the fuel filter mounting screws, then slide the fuel filter out of the mounting bracket.
  7. Discard the fuel line O-rings and replace with new ones during installation.
To install:
  1. Install new O-rings to the fuel line fittings.
  2. Connect the fuel lines to the fuel filter.
  3. Position the filter in the mounting bracket, in the same position it was during removal. Using a backup wrench, tighten the fuel lines to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  4. Install the fuel filter mounting screws.
  5. Carefully lower the vehicle. Install or tighten the fuel filler cap.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
