I need to replace the value cover gasket i like to know about how much the repair charges may run to fix it ?

Gaskets are $37 at Auto Zone. It would take you 30 minutes max even if your not experienced. Very easy repair. But if you hire a shop to make this repair, anything over $50 would be a rip-off.

Replacing value cover gasket

One gasket for each valve cover, you have 2 covers. Upper intake manifold must be removed to access rear valve cover and all wiring that is in the way.

Where is the valve gasket located on a 1996 Saturn CR

Around the edge of the value cover. The value cover bolts to the engine head (top) and the gasket fastens between the cover and the heads, All the cover and gasket do is direct the oil on top the engine values to flow back down into the engine block after this been pumped on top of the value stems. Gasket breaks and you have oil around the engine an on the ground. Also smoke when your driving around.

Oil leaking from value covers, had timing belts changed and oil pressure is high.

Remove valve covers & replace gaskets--rubber is better than cork gaskets if you can get them.

If you had the value cover gaskets changed would you be able to tell if the cam seals needed to be replaced.

You will be able to see the camshaft seals if you take the timing belt cover off. Replacing just the valve covers might not allow you to see the seals.

How do I change the valve cover gasket?

I just changed mine two days ago.I have a 1994 Protege DX and the VIN number says it's a DOHC. It does have two overhead cams BUT the value gasket is for the SOHC. My gasket has 6 holes.... just double check.

Simply loosen the six 10mm bolts and don't forget the 10mm bolt left side holding the timing belt cover in place. Disconnect the two rubber hoses and each end of the valve cover. I used a small screw driver to try out the old gasket. reverse process.
