That's a fair quote. Most of the time they have to replace the entire line so the issue does not occur again. The whole job will probably take close to 2 hours.

Also, that usually means the transmission may have to be drained, which they will have to refill, and transmission fluid can be expensive.

Okay is it safe to still drive the car I get paid on the 10th to pay for the repair

That depends on the severity of the leak. If you run the transmission dry, it can do serious damage.

Please make sure to use , transmission oil cooler hose, And you don't need transmission out to change the hose you can even cut the line weres is leaking and splice it up, but if the hose you used blows up and hits the exhaust, it's probable it catch on fire, tyranny fluid is flammable at 300°f ,hose clams cut into the hose and fails ,you want to use a union..see pics

Check the:
- Fuel pump pressure and regulating valve.
- Check the ignition system.
- Air leaks. (Throttle body gasket, idle air control valve shucked open, PCV valve open, vacuum hoses, gasket intake manifold, A/C VSV).
- Muffler.

The gear shift on my mom's '98 Oldsmobile Silhouette won't engage. It's "loose." To give a little more detail -- she has a little trouble getting the key out AND the back...

There is no simple solution for this problem. A mechanic will have to see the linkage and cable to diagnose the problem and affect repairs. Sorry.

I have a 98 oldsmobile achevia and i have a coolant leak under the middle of the car where woud the leak be coming from?

Thanks for choosing FixYa. Your coolant runs through the motor and it may be leaking from there. It is hard to know for sure because it is inside the motor. You can check all your hoses and make sure they are on all the way and the clamps are tight. Check your hoses and make sure they are not damaged. Also, you need to make sure none is in the oil. With it leaking there, it could end up in the oil. To know for sure, if it is coming from the engine, you will have to get inside it. Make sure it is not leaking from the cap as well. If you have any questions, just let me know and thanks for using FixYa.

Mazda familiar interplay 1991 manual transmission

first of all
you never patch a clutch hose or brake hose.
ok what fluid are you loosing?
just find the leak and call your local auto parts store and get a hose and replace it. then bleed the system.
but remember ther always is a master and slave cyls in the system that can also leak.
good luck
