No it won't. Replace the clutch kit, surface or replace the pressure plate.. I would also replace the master and slave.

SOURCE: Gear Box

You need to check the adjustment on the shifter, I think that may be the problem, do that before assuming the gearbox is defective.

SOURCE: Clutch Sometimes Slipping in 4th and 5th gears!

Hi Jackiaria

Unfortunately you have a hydraulic clutch, which is self adjusting on your car.

The problem you are experiencing is the excessive wear to your clutch, or oil contamination on the clutch plate.

Both these problems can only be fully diagnosed once the gearbox is removed and the clutch is inspected.
There is also a possibility of excessive wear, or scoring, on the flywheel surface, the longer you drive the vehicle with a slipping clutch, possibly requiring the flywheel to be skimmed.

Shop around for a best price, and a trustworthy garage !

Good Luck !

A FixYa rating would be Nice....Thanks.....John.

Having problems about 3-4 times a month with tranny! Hard shifting, the car rev's up and then slips a bit and final finds the right gear! Do I need a new tranny? My car has 153,000km and has already had a...

you may only need a transmission fluid and filter change. suggest you add lucas tranmission treatment to this change also,it works great for stuck or sticky valves in transmissions. i use this myself,i have a toyota van that has 200,ooo miles on it. i also have a ford explorer with 500,00 miles on it. lucas is a great product for oil, transmission, rear end. i'm not promoting it,it simply works!! but let me suggest something else also, your transmission is electronic, which means the cars computer tells it when to shift gears. check engine light on? if so, you need to take it to garage and have it code read. i can recommend a new tranny but please try the lucas 1st it costs 12.00 the filter around $20.00 plus labor, it, worth the effort. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com if i can help you further, please repost your question and there are several experts who will be happy to help!! merry christmas!!

I just want to know where the transmission filter is on a 2005 Hyundai Elantra and how often the filter and fluid need changing?

Most Japanese/Korean made cars actually have no transmission filter...such as hyundai, toyota, honda. Fluid changes should be listed in your owners manual...I think its between 60,000-80,000kms...but I changed mine earlier in my elantra and added in some Lucas for trannys since I noticed mine shifting hard between second and third...cleared it up.

1992 grand prix transmission slip in reverse

Slow, slipping or no reverse: “lo-reverse” clutches are worn out, fluid leak in the reverse apply circuit. It is possible to remedy a fluid problem by removing the checkball from its cage in the case in the trans may help (must remove valvebody), or adding a high-viscosity additive such as Lucas Transmission additive or other seal restorer product. May also have worn boost valve (can replace in the pan).

Thank you for using fixya and good luck

Adding Stop slip to a manual transmission with not keep your clutch from slipping. Replace or adjust the clutch.

I have an 86 ford bronco II. Ive been driving around with the tranny not going into 4th gear. Today I was driving and the tranny started to completely slip into 3rd gear, almost like going into neutral....

I would have to say no,there is nothing else you can do now. Does the fluid smell burned? Is it discoloured? If it is ok now after the top up and additive ,consider your self lucky.

Slow pick-up, high rpm

It seems as though the Transmission clutches are slipping if it's an automatic or the clutch is worn if it's a standard. If it's an automatic transmission check the Transmission oil it should be clean and no burnt smell. You will easily recognize burnt oil by it's nasty smell.

95 geo manual tranny have had problem down shifting to 1st gear for couple months now 2nd is getting hard to downshift and upshift have replaced rubber bushings bolts etc.on shift linkage adjusted etc.

Sounds like your synchronization rings inside the tranny are wearing out try changing the transmission oil and adding product like lucas oil treatment , if it helps lay off the downshifting until your ground speed matches your engine speed for the gear your ring to go in. like really slow speeds ...
