SOURCE: 2004 Ford explorer will not start

Sounds like connections or cables. They may appear to look good but if they are aftermarket terminal ends they get corrosion under the bolt down clamp that holds the wires in. If they are factory cables that are molded on to the ends of the wires the same thing can happen. The easiest and cheapest thing to try is to put aftermarket terminal ends on the cables. Make sure you wirebrush the ends of the cables after you strip them and tighten them evenly and securely. Also clean the battery side thoroughly. If this doesn't work check the starter relay. Its the first place the red cable bolts to after the battery. Check the connections and try putting a jumper wire between the battery positive cable and the small terminal marked with an "S". One of these solutions should take care of this.

Yes the key needs to be reprogramed to the car. Unfortunately that will have to be done by the dealer. Make sure that you have plenty of proof that you are the owner. They will reprogram it but you will not take posession of the car until you prove it is yours.

SOURCE: 2008 Jeep Compass won't start. Lights are bright

I had same prob with Grand Cherokee - no rhyme nor reason as to when, where or why it wouldn't start. After two new starters the shop finally found a starter wire/cable that was corroded on the inside. Mech' could move it back and forth and it would / would not start. Changed cable six months ago - no problems since. Hope it helps.

You should be able to jumper the relay terminals and bypass it to find out.

Car will not turn over. What could it be. Battery is not a year old?

Batteries can still fail no matter how old they are. Try jumping it and then take it to the place where u purchased the battery to get it tested. At least start there since that's the most common problem.

Batteries only month and haif old and allways half to jump off the battery light dont come on the head lights are bright when we have to jump it and i unhooked the battery while it was running and didnt...

Sounds like the new battery has a bed cell.

I would take the car to the local parts store, they will usually check the charging system for free. Make sure they test both the alternator and load test the battery.

If they find no issue, the starter is likely going bad and pulling too many amps, this too they should be able to test for free if you pull it.

Hope this helps.
