No year car. no jeep model stated.
how long in store, 1 hour, or work there 12 hours.?????

so Ill answer in generic form.

  1. fuse blown.
  2. new battery is discharged, do to charging system failure.
  3. battery lugs bad or rusty, or cables bad. (end to end)
  4. stater bad, or intermittent.
using a voltmeter finds this in 5min work
got a meter? if not its a guessing game.

You probably need to take the car back to the dealership and purchase another vehicle. If that doesn't work you need to have them pay for you to get a replacement vehicle at a rental shop while they fix your jeep your car insurance should be able to tell you how to do the rest.

Could be the battery, the starter, or a bad connection between the battery and starter.
A mechanic would check for voltage and ground at the starter first.

My Jeep won't start everything seems to work inside the jeep but when key is turned nothing happens, no clicking no nothing. I have "tapped" the starter to see if that would work and stilll...

start solenoid sounds like the culprit. the start is a breeze to replace. 2-3 bolts and the two power wires. make sure you disconnect the bat. once you have it off the auto parts store should check the starter for free. have them do that befor you buy a new one. also check the fuses if the starter and fuses are good then the ignition is the final link to this puzzle hope this helps

When turning the key to start, it does nothing. then you will try again and it starts. Is this a starter or a relay problem

I WOULD CHECK BATTERY CABLES FIRST.MAKE SURE THEY ARE CLEAN AND TIGHT.IF ALL IS GOOD CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE SHOULD BE 12.6 VOLTS.IF BATTERY GOOD.STARTER SOLENOID OR STARTER FAULTY.REMOVE STARTER AND SOLENOID TAKE TO AUTO PARTS STORE THEY WILL DO A CURRENT DRAW TEST TO SEE IF STARTER HAS A SHORT OR HIGH CURRENT DRAW DUE TO WORN FIELD WINDING OR ARMATURE TURN OFF RADIO FIRST BEFORE REMOVING NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE SO YOU WONT LOSE RADIO PLAYING CODE.

Wont turn over

The starter is most likely the problem, tap on the starter lightly with a hammer while trying to start the engine, dont get run over doing this it will take two people,if the engine starts, the starter needs replacing.

I'm experieince intermittent starting . One day the jeep will crank & start, the next day when I attempt to start it I get nothing.

Its the starter solenoid. Remove 2 bolts and the lead wire and pull the starter out. most local parts stores can test the starter for you, but if the problem is intermittent it might not show up during their test.

On my jeep, after pulling the starter, I disassembled the solenoid. The actual failure of the solenoid was the electrical contact. I cleaned off the corrosion and have had no problems for 40,000 miles.

1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport wont start

Try this first. With one of you under the car whack the starter with a hammer as the other of you turns the key t the start position and holds it there. No wimpy whacks here give it one or two good ones. If it is a bad starter it may start this way. If it does, a new starter motor is in your future. Very easy to change on a Jeep. If it doesn't work let me know and we will go further.
