Check your oil level.
This indicator light generally indicates that the oil pressure is low, due to being low on oil.

  • Turn your engine off.
  • Get a rag or paper towel.
  • pop the hood, and locate the dip stick (generally a handle with a metal shaft that slides down into a tube)
  • Pull out the dip stick and wipe it clean.
  • Slide the dip stick back in it's tube to get a fresh reading, then pull the dip stick back out and look at the gauge at the final couple inches of metal shaft.
  • Add a quart of the recommended oil for your engine if it is below the hash marks on the dip stick.

If the oil is within the range of the hash marks, indicating the oil level is adequate -
  • you'll need to bring the car to a mechanic to have the oil pressure sending unit replaced.

If it drives OK and doesn't start knocking. Replace the oil sender unit.

There's a youtube video about checking Audi engine oil:
Get to know your Audi Checking your oil level

There's no mention of the orange plastic indicators but I would assume yes, they are the low and full indicators on the dipstick.

Water leaking from driver side of engine by the oil pan

This may just be condensation from running your's normal. If the water is clear them that is what it is. If it's from your cooling system, the water will be green or orange, and that would indicate a leaking heater core, or a possible leaking hose.

What is the orange cog light on my discovery

If it is top left of the control panel and has a little thermometer in the middle of it, then its the transmission oil temperature light.

"In some markets, this bulb will temporarily illuminate to indicate the bulb is working when the ignition key is moved to position 2".

Generally, if its on for less than a couple of seconds - all is fine. If it stays on whilst driving then your transmission oil is too hot (hot weather, handbrake left on, punishing the engine etc ....).

If it comes on, check the oil temperature guage, and slow down. If it remains on, stop the vehicle and do not continue until it has extinguished.

Always try to get to the root cause of this fault, as it may be something more serious, such as loss of coolant (leading to engine seizure). Never check the coolant level on a hot engine - serious risk of burns injury.

Yellow engine light went on. What does this mean?

Hi there,

The yellow/orange Engine Check Light is an indicator that your vehicle's computer has detected an abnormality within the engine's electronics or emission system.

Sometimes it can be a one-off abnormality, which eventually rectifies itself within 40 drive cycles.

However, if the Engine light remains lit, then this is an indication of something more concerning (but not necessarily serious).

If it does remain lit when driving, then you should have your local Jaguar service agent scan the computer for "trouble codes", which will quickly identify the component and/or location of the problem.

Hope this helps...
