There are block heaters that are sold aftermarket that go into the engine in place of the dipstick. easy to install. just remove and save old dipstick and insert block heater, route the wiring carefully and hang the male end out the grill for connecting to 120volt household current

How smooth does surface of head gasket have to be

You don't reuse head gaskets...ever.
New head gaskets are not that expensive.
get a new set of head gaskets, some gasket cement, and do the job right.

Can an engine block heater be installed in a 1997 Cadillac Catera and if so how. If a block heater cannot be installed can an inline tank type heater be installed?

the answer is yes, it can be installed into the block by removing one of the side core/freeze plugs, this is a dirty messy job, if u can afford it have a shop intall it. see picture of block heater below

Where is the block heater located on the 2.2L engine?

A block heater is an add on - so it depends on the kind you have. If there is an electric plug hanging out - follow it to where it meets the engine. A common type is installed into the block in one of the freeze plug ports. There are other types that do a similar job. If there is no electric plug hanging near the grill there is a good chance you don't hae one.

Heater core 2001 ford tauras

These are on of the hardest heater cores in the industry to replace. A typical garage will get between $800.00 and $1200.00 to replace, the dealer will get $1600.00 because you have to completely remove the steering column the dash, discharge the A/C system reomve the heater box, split it and replace the core. The job is so labor intensive you would be crazy not to replace the A/C evaporator at the same time. This is not a job for an amature or ever a class "B" tech. leave this one to the Pro's.

Fuel pump

Fuel pump is located in the gas tank, you will need to remove the tank, not a job for an amature, but you can do it with limited knowledge and tools but be careful of sparks and static electricity.

How do i install block heater in 91 2wd 4 cyl sonoma

Hi ryan, yes my friend the best bet is to drain the coolant,as for the block heater, not sure which side for the sonoma but basically it is a frost plug with and internal element attached to it,once you unplug the cord typically there will be a small screw to remove, use a small punch or whatever will work and pop one side to roll the block heater so you can remove it,simple my fried,by the way a new block heater will come with installation instructions :) have fun and good luck ryan take care.

2003 Toyota Highlander, thermostat

Easy. Straight forward job. Just remember these couple things: use a TOYOTA thermostat, and make sure that the little "wiggly valve" is pointing straight UP when installed, and make sure thatyou bleed all of the air from the system.
