Noise on gearbox when clutch pedal is pressed down

Constant noise almost like a tapping sound when clutch pedal is depressed.This noise only happens when using clutch,not during normal driving once 5th gear is reached.I have replaced thrust bearing already.Mechanic advised me today , that there is another bearing on main shaft that thrust bearing is located.

    You probably have a problem with the gearbox and may need to get that looked at soon. My friend had this issue with his clutch and ended up replacing the gearbox to get rid of the noise. I would think about getting a new one or at least taking the car in to see if there are any issues with it. http://www.gearstop.com.au

Hi,I know money is sometimes an issu,but realy when you replace the release bearing you should also replace the presure plate and the clutch plate at the same time so that thay all ware in at the same time,all the best.

Testimonial: "Hi Paula thanks this was all done at the same time, including scheming of fly wheel.I have actually taken the gearbox out, and discovered that it is the main bearing on shaft inside engine that is faulty,not the release bearing."

It sounds like your clutch bearing has gone they are usually on a pendulum system it screeches before it starts to go. Best get it checked.

Hi Maury, Seems you have a number of different problems at the same time. The grinding sound when pushing the clutch pedal would seem to be the clutch thrust release bearing, which is located inside the bell housing and requires the removal of the gearbox to replace. The warning lights should come on each time the ignition is switched on and then they should extinguish after a few seconds. The illumination of these lights is a fail safe system to show that all warning systems are active. The radio will go off during the period when the starter is engaged as a relay shunts all power to the starter during that procedure. The starter motor uses more power from the battery than any other system. The manufactures have taken this into consideration when designing the circuitry and decided as many others have, to adopt the operation. If when starting from cold this does not happen and the radio plays, it is indicating either excessive drawing of power by the starter and may also be the cause of the grinding noise you experience? Regards John

2001 ford escape makes a hissing and high pitched squealing sound when the brake pedal is released?

You need to have the brakes inspected. This noise is the brake pad wear warning tab hitting the brake rotor.;

Hi my rx8 is makin a grinding noise from the gearbox and the noise goes away wen foot is pressed on the clutch makes a noise wen drivin in 1st 2nd 3rd n 4th gear noise goes in 5th and the noise is there in...

What?! Really! The noise goes when the clutch pedal is depressed! So the noise goes when the release bearing (throw-out bearing) is engage? So how would that be a release bearing/clutch problem? If it didn't make a noise until the clutch pedal was depressed, it would be the release bearing! In other words its the input shaft bearing and/or counter shaft bearing in the gearbox. Stop giving people bad advice

On2nd clutch 08 wrangler 1st one replaced @ 9000 mi.s throw out bearing makes noise again

I hope when the first clutch was replaced the throw out bearing was replaced. It sounds like you are either riding the clutch (foot resting on clutch pedal and partially depressing the clutch during normal driving) or the adjustment is incorrect. The throwout bearing should not contact the pressure plate unless the clutch pedal is depressed when adjusted correctly. The constant contact is what wears the bearing out prematurely.

I'm not sure, but that sounds like the throw-out barings. If thats the case and they went before the clutch did, then their could be some big problems up ahead.
