I agree. You can use a spray water bottle and mist the seams of the engine while it runs. If RPM changes you have found the leak.

What an air leak does is allow more air into the engine as if you opened the throttle. Not sure if your engine has manifold runners. These devices are like internal shutters that change air flow. Do a Web search about your engine size and if manifold runners are used.

Also some engines have a part called an idle speed motor or ISC for idle speed control. The moving part on this electric device can get dirty and stick. It is located in the intake manifold and can be cleaned with WD40.

You need to check for a vacuum leak and throttle housing. Also if possible scan for codes you may also have a coil issue

Not all the time but when I start the car it starts very hard. When it starts hard like that and I wait a few second and put it into gear it slams into gear and sometimes won't move.

get it serviced?
hard starts are usually never getting a tuneup, (like spark plugs?)
slamming in to gear is normal if RPM is too high in park, is it.
wont move , in any gear, car wont move even in reverse.
and RPM of engine does what , sticks low, like 800 rpm
or screams at the advancement of right foot.
need lots of details. we cant drive car, but if could in 5min flat all that is clear,
eg:
transmission slips
engine weak
engine racing in park too high.
wont start and misfires when it does.
is fuel fresh, not year old.
ever get a new air filter and fuel filter. if filter is outside tank.

1997 acura cl 2.2 revs up to 1500 rpm and down to 1000 rpm just several seconds after start

Cars are design to run at a higher idle at start up to warm them up quick. There is a sensor that reads water temperature and tells your car's computer how fast to idle. Your RPMs seem slightly high but not out of the norm. Does idle ever drop to around 600/800 after about a minute? If not, your engine temperature sensor maybe defective.

My 99 suburban idles at 1000 rpm in park with a new TPS at operating temp. What is the factory idle setting? how do I adjust rpm?

There no adjustment for idle, control by computer, TPS reading should be .50 volt's, you could have a vacum leak, check vacum line and check for vacum leak at base of intake manifold.

High idle miss fire

check that routing of your throttle cable going to the top of the engine, sounds like it may be dry (no lube) or kinked somewhere. also check for a bent bracket where it would go through.
