Check fuses first? right, (endless answer to electrics,)
ok , no transmission stated.
so how'd we guess that,?
ok, both trans have a Reverse switch, in the casing of M/T
or the A/T the side switch.(aka, PRNDL switch)
in both cases. of 12vdc arrives there. and if it dont exit there.
then the switch is bad. (in reverse) (use a voltmeter and save time?)

if you see like 6v there, it might be the reverse wiring is shorted to the body or tailer hitch wire hack jobs, common

SOURCE: My 1993 Trooper's reverse lights

I had the same Problem with my 1994 Trooper. I was smoking (painting with translucent black paint) my taillights, and when i put the back in, the reverse lights didnt work. In a seemingly unrelated problem, my gearshift indicator strip on the dash would only stay in park. The solution is that there is a sensor that measures gear shift position on the transmission, that relays the power to the reverse lights when reverse is selected. This sensor turned out to be corroded through and the wires surrounding it had corroded from the inside out. I recently got that replaced, and the problem was solved.

Stuck in park, power windows don't work, reverse lights don't work dash doesn't work. keeps blowing 10 amp fuse for reverse lights.changed brake pedal switch didn't help

of course changing a brake pedal switch will not help in a reversing light problem
they are two totally different circuits
check for a damaged wire at the reverse light switch or bulb holder for the reversing bulbs for a dead short
as for the rest check the IGN fuse under the bonnet

Right back-up (reverse) light not working. Bulb is good, Gauge 10A fuse changed. Still not working. How do I fix this please?

Check the:
1. Centre contact with in the bulb holder for corrosion.
2. Presence of supply voltage with a test lamp when the ignition switch is on, hand brake pulled, engine off and reverse gear engaged.
3. Ground circuit.
4. Replace bulb.

I have 1997 chevy c1500. The brake lights work. The reverse lights don't work. I replaced the bulbs, not the problem. I checked the fuse, not the problem. What else can I do to fix this problem??

Do you have power coming out of the reverse circuit on the neutral safety switch ? Or the reverse switch if the truck has a manual trans ?

2005 Ford Focus- Blinkers, Brake lights and hazards don't work -just change the bulbs and they still don't work. Help!

That should be on two different fuses, but everything goes thru the turn signal switch.
The switch might be faulty. A mechanic would check for voltage there.

Only one reverse light goes on on my 2007 VW Passet, how do I fix?

if you have already tried changing the bulb and still not working than the simplest way is to run a wire from the working bulb to the other side saves time trying to unravel all the harness's first you will need to find wich of the two wires is not doing its job the power wire or the ground wire? test light will help you with that, with engine off put your car in reverse turn the ignition to on that will turn on the working reverse light use a test light to find the problem go to the none working light remove the bulb using the test light touch each connection point to see if any light up the test light if not then you have a bad power supply, but if it does light up then you have a bad ground wire in either case you can jump the working light to fix the light if ground is bad jump the ground and vise versa.......

1998 chevy truck tail light an panel light popin fuse,s i checked all wiring in rear no damage to wiring bought an change 3 way bulb holder. still same prob, don,t no were to go next Keith

Somtimes the bulbs get a dead short in them even though they look OK. Install new bulbs or remove all bulbs on this circuit and reinstall one at a time to see if fuse pops. I had this problem with signal lights on 95 chevy 1500 and turned out the back up bulbs were on the same circuit. Bad back up bulb so once truck was in reverse it blew the fuse and then the signals did not work. Cheap enough to be worth a shot.
