Well that depend on what exact transmission.
unstated.?
the FSM covers this, the factory service manual, buy one,
or
alldata.com ?

why not just look at jeep, online, in parts department
look up your car, your engine, and trans,
then see what is there.

the 4.0L uses this solenoid to shift.

the engine size determines what transmission you get.
(max torque dictates that need, as does gas/diesel)

there it is. (example1)

how difficult, well that depends on 2 things, your shop and tools at hand, and your skills. neither of which we could guess. so why not read the book and the steps, then decide by self ? have you done all the tests to prove its bad yet, that be first, not guessing, use a scan tool ever?

SOURCE: jeep codes location of unit

Got me a complete manual for 199 jeep factory model and found location of each individual unit in question. Manual gives u possible solution to each code and repair and or replace. As a mechanic myself testing, trouble shooting and repair was not that difficult. Shift solenoid was very difficult to get to. Located under the head lamp passenger side.

Trouble with the transmission solenoid 2000 dodge caravan. Automatic transmission. The check engine light code read Transmission shift solenoid. I need suggestions on how to fix this myself

USUALLY A SHIFT SOLENOID DTC IS REPAIRED BY REPLACING THE TRANS SOLENOID PACK ASSEMBLY..LOCATED ON OUTSIDE OF TRANSMISSION..YOU MUST BE CAREFUL WHEN CHANGING PACK..CLEAN ALL DIRT/DEBRIS FROM OUTSIDE OF PACK..YOU DON'T WANT ANY DIRT TO ENTER TRANSMISSION..SOLENOID IS A SMALL BOX LOCATED ON SIDE OF TRANS FACING FRONT OF VEHICLE..YOU MUST REMOVE TRANS COOLER LINE HOSES FROM FITTINGS ON TRANS..REMOVE INPUT SPEED SENSOR..UNPLUG PACK..8MM SCREW HOLDS IT..3 BOLTS HOLD PACK TO TRANS..YOU MUST CLEAN ALL GASKET RESIDUE THOROUGHLY BEFORE INSTALLING PACK..I'D RECOMMEND GETTING SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE THIS BEFORE IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE DOING THIS..I HOPE THIS HELPS

I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee with 4 wheel drive, when I start out the transmission takes a long time to shift into high gear, probably around 4o to 50 MPH. Someone said it is the transmission modual and has...

This is possible, to check the valve by going under your jeep and looking at the back part of the transmission. You will see a valve with a vacuum line going to it, it is usually located at rear of trans just above trans pan. To check pull vacuum line off, if fluid comes out the valve is bad and needs to be replaced. They can be purchased at most auto parts stores readily. If no fluid the trans may just need serviced.

Where is tcc soloniod located . is it easy 2 access can i replace it by myself or 2 hard 2 do

The TCC solenoid is locared in the transmission, and although servicable it is unlikely the problem your want to fix, you are probably getting a trouble code that sent you looking, the problem is most likely that the trans. needs to be rebuilt. The sensor is sensing a shutter, which is most commonly the trans. slippping.

The trans is a 4T65E. All the solenoids are inside the side cover. You have to pull the axel and drop the trans on the driver side down to get it off. The pressure control solenoid is the biggest one inside and is round like a drum.

Hope this helps
