They make a module wrench just for those. Any good parts store will have them. If it looks like a bolt head a 7/32 will work but it needs to be a very thin wall. If it is a torx it is a T-20

Howtotroubleshoot distribution system on1996 hondacivic1.6l

Last one of these i did with this problem i found that it was ihe IGN Module inside the distributer.. When i saw the price of this module.. I looked for a used distributer.. Bought one on Ebay for $40. complete with cap and roter and modules.. Fixed the problem. Could be a coil or electricty not comning from Ign switch.. You will have to check all these things before spending the big money.. I think that Orilly Auto parts can check the module if you bring it to them.

Timing adjustment for a 1987 buck century estate wagon 3.8 liter v-6

On older vehicles... loosen the bolt holding the distributer and turn a little clockwise or counter clockwise. If you have a timing light plug it into the spark plug wire of the #1 cylinder and look for the timing marks on the front of the harmonic balancer. But you could just wing it without a light.

89 s10 blazer no spark

There is no test for module in distributor, but they often cause this kind of problem. Also while in there, check the pickup coil wires to make sure they are intact.

Where did you check for spark? Unplug the coil wire from the distributer cap and check there by placing the end of the wire near something like a ground wire or head bolt while cranking the engine. Don't hold it in your hand. If you have spark comming from the coil wire but not from the cylinder wires then I agree with stevevpb. Very possibly the cap and rotor. A word of advice. If you decide to replace the cap and rotor and/or possibly the iginition wire set as well, use only OEM parts. Yes they are more expensive but many aftermarket ignition parts wind up costing you a lot more in the long run. I've learned that the hard way. An OEM cap will probably run you about 50 bucks; rotor, 20 bucks; wire set, 150 bucks. What a rip but hey, it is what it is.

Low RPM, high load is when the engine demands the best spark. More than likely you have a bad plug or plug wire causing this issue. You didn't say how many miles are on the car. It could also be due to a broken piston ring, but I wouldn't say that without knowing what kind of mileage was on the car.

1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo ... no spark and no fuel pressure

sounds like your crankshaft position sensor has failed it is located on the bellhousing and has a thick black lead off it with a three wire plug, also it should have 1 ten mm bolt holding it in place, this provides an impulse signal for spark and fuel injector pulse and the car wont run without it -jeff ps please rate and goodluck this is also a suspect part but my money is on the crank sensor, this part is this camshaft sensor located in the distributer and will not kill the fuel in most cases just spark
