SOURCE: Serpentine belts keeps shredding
would help if i knew what car it was ,main cause of this problem is one of the plastic wheel/tensioner is faulty if you look carefully then you will that it should have a guide like a train wheel with a falnge on either side and one or both of these flanges have broken away so the without the guide the belt runs on the edge of the wheel and it shreds .not the first time i have seen this

COULD BE A BAD BEARING IN THE IDLER PULLY OR THE TENSIONER ON THE TIMING BELT OR THE SERPENTINE BELT. IF ITS A SQUEEL IT MAY BE SOME COOLANT GOT ON THE SERPENTINE BELT. TRY TO WASH THE BELT WITH WATER AND LET DRY COMPLETELY. IF NOISE REMAINS RETURN TO THE SHOP THAT DID THE WORK.
