Raw gas smell may be the culprit of starting noise. Leaky injector(s) could be causing some fuel to enter chambers as you shut off engine, washing oil off cylinder walls and diluting oil. Check fuel pressure key on/engine off and test for gas in the oil.

Runs ******

if it smells like raw, unburned fuel, you may have an injector stuck open. i assume it clears up and drive good after a short warm up. there will be evidence of which cylinder has the bad injector by pulling out the spark plugs. the affected cylinder will be washed clean and smell like unburned fuel. the plug may also be "wet black" and of course smell like raw fuel.

Strong gas smell inside of car

is there a leak in your fuel line, or possibly your fuel filter, if you see raw gas leaking, then it is dangerous for you tio continue to drive it, it only takes one spark to ignite it, however, if the smell is just your car burning rich and the exhaust has holes in it, it will smell up the inside of your car. And yes if your carb. is burning too rich then it needs adjusted. Wasting your fuel, and overloading your engine. I hope some of this was helpfull.

Missing on passenger side of engine. Gas floods through and comes out exhaust. Replaced fuel pressure regulator.no change. Checked compression on all cylinders.120 - 190 psi. Dropped exhaust at engine,no...

Its possible that your crankcase is full of gass too, I suggest change oil and filter, also, if it wont go over 40, the converter (catalytic) is probably damaged as well, raw fuel in the exhaust will break up the cat. Oil change is imperitive as too much liquid in the crankcase will destroy an engine in seconds. Can also be caused by the clogged converter, too much backpressure.

Get a vacuum gauge, hook into a manifold vacuum source. Increase RPM to 1500-200 and hold steady, if vacuum gauge falls, exhaust sytem has a restriction, the cat or muffler or a pipe has a broken chunk of the cat blocking it.

Hope helps; keep us updated.

See my previous post under my 2001 Dodge Caravan by Jeff Bellucci. I had the exact same problem and had it towed in and determined it was a "bad wire" connecting the PCM. Repairs were relatively inexpensive at $181 and has been running fine for about a month since repairs.

Too much gas

Had this problem on a 4.6 tbird. Hope the cause of your problem was not the same as mine. Computer had gone bad and had caused an injector to stay open. I pulled the plugs, found the wet on, unplugged the injector. Only ran on 7 but no more gas out the exhaust. Took it to a shop and they were the ones to find the cause.

Also, the raw gas in the converter will cause it to go bad. Be careful how much you run the engine with gas in the oil. Dont want to ruin the engine.
