How do I get to and remove the thermostat in my 98 mystique

Locate the Thermostat
  • Find the hoses that leave your radiator.
  • Trace the top hose back to your engine.
  • Locate the thermostat housing attached at the end of that hose. Verify the location in your owner's manual, as some manufacturers house the thermostat at the bottom of the radiator rather than the top. This makes removal far more difficult.

Replace the Thermostat Locate the clamp that secures the thermostat to the radiator hose. Unscrew this clamp and gently remove it from the engine. You might see radiator fluid or coolant come out of the hose at this stage, in which case you can catch it in a drip pan and dispose of it later on. Unscrew the bolts that secure the thermostat to its housing. Wipe out the inside of the hose with a rag to ensure it is free of debris. If anything falls into your radiator, it can result in expensive repairs. Replace the gasket. Install the new engine thermostat. Make sure the power unit faces the engine. Replace the bolts to secure the thermostat housing to the radiator hose. Reconnect the hose and tighten the screws in the clamp

Changing a thermastat on a 2003 Caravan

the 1993 caravan had two engines offered a 2.5L 4cylinder and a 3.3L v6........on the 2.5L the thermostat is located on the front of the cylinder head were the top radiator hose attach's.
remove the top hose were it attach's to the thermostat housing and the remove the thermostat housing and lift out the thermostat and replace with the new one making sure the spring on the thermostat is facing the engine replace the thermostat housing and top radiator hose and remove the bleeder screw from the top of the thermostat housing and fill radiator with new antifreeze. when you see antifreeze coming out the bleeder hole replace the bleeder screw.

The 3.3L v6 also has the thermostat at the front of the cylinder head were the top radiator hose attach's the thermostat housing the procher is the same except for bleeding the radiator, to bleed the cooling system remove the coolant temp. sensor it is located just below the thermostat housing and fill radiator with new antifreeze until the antifreeze starts coming out the coolent tempt sensor hole them reinstall the sensor and top of radiator.........GOOD LUCK

Over heating, could you please tell me or show me in a diagram where the thermastat is.

the thermostat is in a small bellshaped housing which is attached to the engine block. the housing has a hose stuck on it which goes to the radiator. generally the hose which attaches near the top of the engine as opposed to the hose which attaches at the bottom. seldom does a thermostat simply plug up, but it is generally the easiest part to replace.

Where is the thermostat located grand am 2000?

Under the radiator hose that meets the top of the engine
under the throttlebody if you follow the heater hose from firewall on the driverside toward the engine it goes to the thermostat housing.

To get to the thermostat you need to remove air cleaner box assembly from the throttle body and move it out of the way. Next, remove the nut at the throttle body that holds the steel tube that goes to the heater hose, remove all hoses that connect to this tube and raise it out of the way. Remove the steel line that goes to the radiator surge tank from the thermostat housing. Now the fun part. With a 13MM box end wrench, loosen the lower bolt from the thermostat housing. A 13 mm socket will remove the top bolt. Remove the thermostat cover and remove the thermostat. Reverse to install.

How do I remove the thermostat from the 2004 GMC Envoy????

It's actually very simple. Follow the upper radiator hose to the top of the engine block. You will see a housing which the hose is attached to. Remove the hose from the housing. The housing will have 2 or 3 bolts holding it down. Remove the bolts and lift the housing off. The thermostat will be sitting there and you simply need to remove it.

Hi,
The thermostat is located in a housing attached to your engine, where the top radiator hose is connected to that housing.
I hope this helps...
