The fusible link is perhaps burned out.

You mean it won't crank ,right< only clue is "starter rebuilt" !
seens not....
but then contradict that with spark dead (sure fuels dead the ECU cuts fuel when it sees spark missing on all EFI cars (by law, and fire safety)
my guess car is not a daily driver, and are getting it back on the road. and has old gas in the car? right> ? how many miles on it
50k,100k 300k, 500k? how old is the gas ? over 1 year old?

my guess is i'ts a car with lots of problems, (barn find or parked? long time)?
ILL guess at your story.....
new battery, new starter and now cranks fast. and spark is dead
if spark is dead, the ECU will tell you why in most cases,
but only if dead on all 4 spark plugs. are are all 4 dead?
the 93 (both engines) have a single spark coil
if its dead? the ECU will tell you. (scan codes) more later.
Did you scramble the distributor wires? they are TIMED in firing order.

things 2 check on G16a or b engines. THE NO START"

  1. IG-coil fuse above knee left
  2. "FI" fuse, same place.
  3. is CEL lamp glowing key on, if not the ECU is dead. (or lamp out) fix this first or we cant do the flash codes tests called the Diagnosis jumper, in the DLC conn.
  4. spark is weak or timed wrong, or way out of time is cam belt slip is not changed at 60k miles, (every) they all do that.
  5. if the cam belt slips compression drops to 80PSI (typ)
  6. The cam belt slip throws spark way off, so far it can see to be missing ! check spark at the coil, if good , BINGO!
  7. THE ECU scans are next.

the magic paper clip, got 12s flashing for 5 seconds cranking

watch scotty here. his Video is funny and accurate.

covers the 27+ ways to not get a START, cranks ok.

if it dont crank, that is 1 page

Testimonial: "Yes Cranks fine, have checked all Fuses, Gas is 2 weeks old, Firing order is Correct, New Plugs, Was Running Fine Last week when removed Starter, now no Spark etc! Removed Battery Cable before began removing Starter, Very Confused?????"

great ! its a true no start. no need to be confused, the ECU generates all spark so if the spark is dead at the coil tower is it dead there?, then that means the Ingitor is not firing, so that means if you insert a paper clip, in the DLC jumper connector next to battery, the ECU will flash out code 12 for good, or in your case IT WILL flash ERROR codes. why not look, the steps are in that 1st link above! my guess (almost always wrong), is the distributor cable (body side) fell off. (or the IG-coil fuse really is blown (not tested just glanced?) Insert the jumper, in the DLC, then keyon, see codes flash now? it must flash something now or the ECU is dead or the CEL lamp burned out. then crank for 5 seconds. then release key, now see code 41 or 42? BINGO! The ECU does report lost spark or dead CMP sensor
if you just give it a chance to tell you it did. it can even report 1 drop in 10 while driving. (amazing facts)
tell more, or ask where you get lost in the DLC checks. "diagnostic link, connector)

there is no fuse for the starter. its un-fused (BOOM eat acid) but if you ground that big alternator wire you do blow those huge finder fuses (MAINS)
we have full schematics on this, car.
full FSM , etc.... no need to guess or wonder or scratch head.

    head lights work? sure
CEL glow keyon in cluster. yes?,then IGcoil fuse is ok.
    the "FI" fuse is next,
    that ends fuse worries there.

insert the diagnostic jumper clip. and crank it over, the good flash code is 12, if you see 41, or 42, then bingo.

the jump test only takes 5min. insert it and crank for 5 seconds.

keep in mind, if spark is bad, ECU cuts fuel. so.... fix spark.

Is it possible that the computer on my 92 geo tracker is what's keeping it from starting???? will the engine turn but no strat????

turn the key to acc mode and if the check engine light is on then the computer is working. check for spark. listen for the fuel pump to turn on its in the back passenger side if both those work and you didnt mess with distributor plugs rotor or cap then you may have to bypass it. or the fuel injector could be clogged. take off the metal air intake to get to the fuel injector and pour a little gas directaly in and see if it starts. if fuel pump spark and pouring gas into were the fuel injector is then it might be a bad fuel injector or it needs to be bypassed.

93 geo tracker gets fuel, has spark, cranks but won't start

Since it gets spark and fuel I suspect the low compression to be a large factor. What is the compression in the other cylinders?
