Depends on which engine you have. If it is a 4.0L it should change out the same. This one must be removed from the bottom of the vehicle. Pay particular attention to the belt loosening technique in the maual which adjusts with the power steering pump.

Disconnect (-) ground cable from battery and replace alternator. Reinstall the (-) ground cable after installing the alternator to avoid arcing and possible damage to the new alternator. Always wear safety glasses when working with car batteries. An explosion and acid burn hazard exist.

I can assure you that isn't necessary

The commutator would be worn out first &
