No air in front but i have air in rear is there a belt in front ??


Can you hear the front ac/heater fan? They use the same AC compressor so that should be okay. The fan switches fail quite often on those. That controls how much air is pushed by the fan for AC, heat and defrost. The switch is attached to the fan knob on the dash.

Air con. is running but not cooling enough. Compressor gas level has been checked and is ok.


Hello, If you are confident that the Freon level is accurate and not just indicating Air pressure, then you need to look at the Low pressure cutoff switch or the dash knob for the temperature control. Or high speed on the Radiator fan is not kicking in. Here is an explanation of what I am saying.

1. The pressure readings indicate the pressure of any type of gas in the system. Freon is both a liquid and a gas and that is how it moves heat from one place to another. If you have air in the system, your Freon is diluted by a contaminant. This (contaminant) is Environmental air which can be compressed in the Freon lines. This works like an air compressor. When making an A/C repair, the Freon is drawn out of the system and then a Vacuum is made in the Freon hoses by a reverse pump with removes all air and moisture. Autozone, Oreillys, and Advance usually have tool loaner programs for you when you leave a deposit. I had A/C problems on Vacation, left a $250 deposit on an A/C pump, and fixed my air on the spot. I was immediately refunded my deposit when I returned the unit.
2. The low pressure cutoff switch is the usually the first switch from the oblong A/C tank. This is the connector you usually disconnect and jump to start filling the system. The switch can be unscrewed and exchanged with a new one. Sometimes the spring inside gets weak.
3. On a manual A/C control ONLY, the knob can break around the shaft. When you dial a temperature, the shaft does not move behind the knob. Remove the knob and gently turn the shaft with a covered pair of pliers to the cold position.
4. The cooling fan for the Radiator has 2 speeds. It is suppose to kick up the speeds to cool down the Radiator better. If a high speed relay burned out, you will not get maximum cooling.

  2. there are several doors in the air box
  3. blend door (hot cold)
  4. mode door (defrost, floor, vent)
  5. recirculation door (outside air)
  6. if the control mechanism is defective. the tech may have reached under the dash and manually opened the blend door.

it sounds vacuum related the fan knob relates to the fan motor (electrical) the vacuum switches relate to the heater controls hope that makes sense

You don't say whether the fan starts and shuts off with the bumps, or the heat goes cold but the fan stays on. If it's the fan shutting off and coming back, you most likely have an intermittent connection to the blower motor somewhere at the fuse box, the fan speed control switch or the fan motor, or a loose ground connection at the fan motor. The fan motor is visible under the right side speaker grille on the dash. Make sure you re-connect the short black corrugated hose to the grill vent or you won't have defrosting on that side!

The air distribution rotary switch controls where the air goes. The fan speed switch controls exactly that: fan speed. the temp rotary switch controls the coolant temp into the heater core. You need to clarify what you mean by "Also, the dash controls for the vents won't allow me to turn up the power"

You might also have one or more of the following issues:
  1. is you vacuum tank properly connected and are there no leaks in the vacuum piping? The tank is in the driver side rear wheel well below the trunk deck on a convertible, and in the passenger side front fender area on the other cars. It's a white bottle with one or two hoses connected to it. If not properly on, your vacuum operated heater flaps won't move. Does the air distribution knob make sucking or hissing noises when you set it to different positions? If not, check the tank connections, look for vacuum line leaks, then suspect the vacuum valve behind the distribution knob.
  2. if the air distribution rotary switch makes noises when you change its setting, but nothing happens, then suspect the vacuum solenoids that open and close the heater flaps - could be a loose vacuum line or a defective vacuum solenoid
  3. the shaft connecting the temp control knob to the heater valve behind it may not be properly in place. This can be inspected, and adjusted if necessary, from the left side speaker/vent cutout on top of the dash. Make sure you re-connect the black flex hose to the air vent tube, or you'll get no defrosting afterwards!
  4. remember, the centre vents always blow cold air; a brilliant idea from Saab so the driver (and passenger) can get fresh air in the face and stay awake while the rest of the driver, passenger and car is toasty!

The fan doesn't work on the air conditioning unless the knob is turne all the way to the right. What needs to be done to make the fan work properly.

one of two solutions:

The contacts on your fan switch are bad, or you striped the knob and it won't turn the switch on, or the big bad one...your fan motor has decided it needs a vacation.

Did the switch break because it was stuck? If so, then yes, they will have to change actuators and doors. Does the fan work on all speed setting? If so then you do not need a blower resistor. The resistor pack only controls the current flow to change speeds of the fan.
