Why wont my 91 camaro start i drove it home one day shut it off and it hasn't started since i have changed the emc box the ignition switch the key and tumbler but it still wont start i can get it to turn...

Possible neutral safety switch failed if its an automatic, or inhibitor switch if standard trans. Does it have an alarm ? Did you get the ign switch in properly, if its the style that mounts down low on the column, loosen the screws and slide it back toward steering wheel and recheck for start

Wont start

try turning the engine over by hand do it without the ignition on. see how hard it is to turn. turn it a few times then try to start with starter motor. if still will not turn check the starter motor is engaging. check wiring and make sure there is a good earth.

I have a 2000 chevy malibu ls. at first..we just thought that the battery needed charged..so we bought a new battery.. then it still wouldnt start..so we bought a new starter and replaced that..and it...

DO you hear a clicking when you turn the key to start? Solenoid relay make a click sound when energized.
If the solenoid is not mounted on the starter motor then it will be near the battery
The key switch sends power to the solenoid. the solenid is a big remote controlled switch, and it takes power from the battery to the starter motor

1997 Chevrolet Suburban wont start, I have all electrical things work but the engine will not turn over

it could be a couple of things. It could be a fuse, or the starter is gone bad. or it could be the ignition switch. to check the starter go under and touch the relays with a screw driver. (tap the ends do not hold it on there) if you get nothing its the starter. check the fuses to see if there is a break. and if it's none of these it's more than likely the ignition

Wont start have replaced starter battery in the past 3 months and agian it wont start how would i be able to tell if the ignition switch is bad

well thats kind of easy :)

now by kind off you will see what i mean..

  • turn ignition on so that the lights on the dash board come up,
  • get a large screw driver
  • locate the starter on your car (a cylinder shaped device to the back of the engine close to the firewall)
  • to the side of it you will notice 2 bolts,, bridge them with the screw driver,, once your starter tumbles,, and if it doesnt do so from the switch,, the switch is bad..

95 VW JETTA WON'T START. BATT GOOD. DOES NOTHING WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY. NO JUICE AT STARTER FROM KEYSWITCH

CHECK YOUR RELAYS, AND THE SUPER FUSE'S. ALSO CHECK YOUR GROUNDS YOULL BE SUPRIZE HOW MANY PROBLEMS ARE CAUSED BY GROUNDS. FUSES UNDER IGNITION, AND RELAYS ALSO UNDER IGNITION. I BELIEVE YOUR SEAT BELTS HAVE AN INTERUPT CIRCUIT TO THE IGNITION AS WELL DRIVER SIDE. CHECK FOR CONTUINTY TOO. SEND A FEEDBACK PLEASE

I have a 1996 chevy lumina. the motor wont turn

You need to check for power at the purple wire going to the solonoid while key is in the start position, if no juice then check starter relay-under hood- fuse ,and ignition switch

Replaced ignition switch, now car won't start I own a 1980 Camaro(Had to put 83 in product category cuz it wont go any lower but it's an 80), The Ign. Switch went out a few months ago, I replaced it back...

Dont panic, you can do this. First you must get a multimeter. Their cheap at harbor frieght 5 bucks. Then check the battery, car off, should be 12 volts. car on 13,14 volts. Possibly the ignition switch wires are touching. That of course would be a short. Also try to jump start the car, if it turns over you found your problem. If not you must start check the connections from the battery. follow the wires, negative to frame, make sure its tight, positive to starter make sure its tight to starter post. Use meter to check for power on the wires. Okay buddy good luck.

My 1996 cavalier Z24 wont start

pull a wire and ground it via useing a screw driver at the end of the spark plug boot to check for spark / if their is no spark / ignition control module / there is also a crank shaft position sensor / located on the back side of the motor under the coil packs / pain to get to / also the nuetral safty switch / to check the neutral safty switch diconnect the big harnest at the neutral safty switch put a fuse tester to the yellow wire / have someone turn the key / with the tester grounded the light should come on / now we know the ignition switch has power going through it. if there is a no power at the yellow wire / bad ignition switch / does the car have a relay located at the top of the radiator core support (up by the radiator looking down drivers side)if it does not gm will install one for free / if there is / look for the purple wire coming out of the relay and Follow it down to the starter / reconnect the neutral safty swtch / touch the small S (the smallest screw) terminal on the starter soilenoid / have someone turn the key forward check the light / this will detemine if the relay is good / CAREFULL NOT to touch the big starter wire with the little one it will jump the starter / I HAVE THE SAME CAR / Hope this helps
