I need a little more information before we can help.

Does the car start only when it's dry out, or when the engine is cold?

Does this happen if your ran you're welcome engine for a while, then shut if off and tried to start it again?

My initial thought is that the started relay has a problem - or perhaps the starter itself. But I would like a little more info first.

Thanks,

Mark

SOURCE: car wont start...sometimes

Sounds like a bad starter solenoid, usually cheapest and easiest to replace the starter and solenoid as a unit. It is always best to check for power between the solenoid and the starter with a test light, if the solenoid clicks but the test light doesn't light up you have found the problem in the solenoid.

SOURCE: power seat moves back and forth each time key

your seats have a MEMORY stored with each key

use your seat control button to reprogram the seat

however, you need to know if the key you have is the primary key or secondary

first program as driver one and then use the key
if seat moves then program as driver two

if however... you mean that the seat is always moving, AT ALL TIMES, and you ALWAYS have to readjust with the seat switch then you probably have a module concern

How do I Turn off the passenger airbag light

This is a common problem with nearly all makes of cars and is usually down to bad connections under the seat caused by sliding the seat back and forth. Sometimes just wiggling the wires and connector sorts it, sometimes you have to disconnect and re-connect the wires and sometimes a new connector is required. Generally, though, the light will only be reset with the aid of an OBD reader.

2013 Hyundai Elanta will not start, turn key , new battery, nothing, all lights n dash work, could it be the alarm system OEM

If you have a second key, try that one. Sometimes 1 key will unlock, 1 key will start. If not it would be the anti theft or security system disabling the ignition module. Which is why it won't even try to turn over.

Have 1990 audi 100,car won't turn over,have 12 volts,makes a click sound under back seat when I turn key

Sounds like a dead battery. Do the lights come on and radio work? Maybe the lights are dimmer than normal or the door is no longer dinging when opened. Also another way to tell when the battery is not getting any juice to the car.
You may be able to get the car started using jumper cables. I would take it to a parts store immediately and have them check it (almost always free).

One easy thing (which is free and a maintenance item) is to clean the battery terminals and cable terminals. These can get very corroded and actually cause the battery to stop charging when the car is running. They may just need a good cleaning and a jump. It might take care of it!

Probably not the starter, but also an outside chance (full disclosure).

Good luck!

Kia rio steering wheel is locked and won't turn

Okay, I just had this same problem with my 2009 Kia Rio and I did this. So not to down everyone's post on here -- everyone is correct -- by turning the steering wheel back and forth and turning the ignition key at the same time is a correct method. However, after talking to a Kia Serviceman, he told me you have to do it hard -- meaning turning it violently back and forth hard (madman style). In order to do this operation, I had my wife sit in the driver side and turn the key while I was on her left side grabbing the steering wheel and violent moving it back and forth like a madman, and after about 2mins of doing it the key turned over -- problem fixed. Do not worry about breaking anything; turning the steering wheel violently hard is a must -- this was told to me by a Kia service Rep. Remember -- have someone assist you; either turning the key or violently turning the steering wheel back and forth. Hope this works for you!!!!!

Won't start; some electrical problem. If I turn the key 10 to 20 times it will eventually start and run fine. Sometimes it will start on first attempt. Hot or cold........this situation has been...

Remove the lock cylinder, then take a pair of pliers and," do one at a time", pull out the tumblers and rub both sides across fine sand paper to remove corrosion. Take a small finger nail file and file it back and forth through the tumbler slot in the cylinder to remove any obstructions. Use WD 40 to clean everything. Be very careful not to lose the very small springs that push the tumblers back and forth.
Pay attention to the way you remove and replace the tumblers! If you lose a tiny spring, you might be able to get one from a locksmith.
The parts store wanted $110.00 for a cylinder for my 1999 Chrysler and all it needed was the
above treatment and it works fine.
My problem was the same as yours and I'm sure this will fix it.

Sometimes keys does not turn to start car

Steering locks often bind, especially if you have the wheel under pressure, like against the curb.
Rocking the steering wheel back and forth while you try to turn the key, will relieve the binding pressure. Otherwise, it could be a warn key. Try a different one, or have a new key cut. The door latch can be used to cut a new key perfectly.

Your description indicates a dead spot in the starter. When it does this and you keep turning the starter it moves past the dead spot and will start. This may require starter replacement.

Check the wires under the seat sometimes they frae when moving the seat back and forth.

Also they will auto turn off it is getting to hot or a wire inside the seat is contacting another wire so check where you can for bad contact.
