The outer tie rod ends can make a clanging noise if they are loose. You can easily check them - grab a hold of the tie rod and try to move it around to see if it has any play in the steering knuckle..

The noise could also be caused by the stabilizer/sway bar. Check the bushings and check the links for wear.

SOURCE: Right front squeaking badly. broken strut?

If the strut was broken the vehicle would be sitting oddly, it sounds like the spring in the strut assembly is moving around alot, so it may need the top strut nut tightened. The other area to check is it may have dry bush's in the bottom arm, give these a squirt of CRC 5.56 lubricant and see if that helps.
Finally check to see if there is any oil that has seeped from the shock absorber in the strut, it maybe running dry and this will cause a whooshing type squeak..which will be quite loud. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

Every time i drive into a hole my car will make this big noise just like i head iron

does it come from one of the front wheels?passenger side or driverside front?you may have a bad ball joint on one of those front ball joints.it could also be a bad strut on either front side. only an alighment can tell if it's a a bad control arm bushing or an 'a' frame bushing going bad. depending on how many miles your car has on it, and how rough it's been driven will determine the bushing life you have on 'a' frame bushings or the struts life left. i would start with the struts 1st. if you push up and dowm on the hood of your car, does it bounce up and down more than once? thats a good test for struts. if it bounces u good luck and thank you for choosing fixya.comp and down say 3 times after pushing it doen once, the struts bad.good luck and thank you for choosing fixya.com

What r problems to be on the look out for on a 1999 chevy malibu with the 3100 v6 in it and there is a rattle when i hit bumps or rough road the struts are fine

Broken stabalizer links, broken stabilizer bar, and worn out stabilizer bar bushings are fairly common. As well as the rear bushings on the front lower control arms. A quick inspection of the front end and you should be able to tell if the links are bad, bar is broken, or the lower control arm bushings are separated. If the rear bushings on the front lower control arms are seperated the lower control arm will look like it is resting on the subframe.

ok, first things first. take it to a shop and tell them what happened. they will probably need to remove the strut assembly and reposition the spring and make sure it is sitting in the correct position between the upper mount and strut assembly. once they know that the struts are correct, they will need to put the vehicle on the alignment rack and adjust accordingly. this kind of adjustment should be done at least every six months or less depending on your driving habits.

front stuts need replacement, buy this point it would be both. you can tell most of the time buy if you hit a pot hole on the left and it makes a nosie thats the side. but after a few days of driving like this both are in bad shape and need replacement.

there is no bearing its just the strut, you can tell buy getting a jack stand and lifting the front and moving the tire side to side and back to front. usaly anything over 10-20 thouthands of an inch is bad, and that mean if you feel it it's bad.

but anyways to replace it you will need a sop, you have to compress your front srping in order to remove and install a strut.

2004 Chevrolet Malibu front end hum

I think your right that its a bad bearing or hub. If your feeling it in the gas pedal and the floor, its most likely the front. If you can find an empty parking lot, try to get up to the speed it starts making the noise, and turn left and right. With the extra load being put on each bearing from turning, that will tell you which side it is.
