Was the car still operational at the time? Is this something that could happen and the car still run for a while? My father is a machinist and told me that he saw coolant in the oil on the dipstick, but it didn't look like it to me.

4 cylinder would be the head gasket is blown. 6 cylinder could be the head gasket or intake manifold gasket. The only other way is a cracked head or block. These don't happen to often. If it is the head gasket, send the heads to e checked for cracks and to be surfaced flat.

If smoke is black indicates too much fuel
If smoke is white Could be coolant in the exhaust system
If smoke is blue possible excessive oil entering in the combustion system
Also if you have an automatic transmission with a vacuum modulator, it could be leaking transmission into the combustion
If you have too much oil in the engine, it will also smoke

Change your thermostat. The thermostat is in the housing on top of the motor with a big hose going to radiator. Good Luck, JERROD

Iv noticed oil in the coolant reservoir what could it be 02 trailblazer 4.2L any posible answers

depends on the type of oil in the reservoir!! Typical issues that will cause this on your 4.2L I-6 engine; 1. (usually pink/reddish oil) trans fluid leaking via faulty radiator, blown head gasket from overheating (severe), or someone accidentally added oil to your radiator!!

Might have a blone head but i don't know

Oil in the coolant,or coolant in the oil.Excessive smoke/steam from the exhaust that smells sweet,or coolant going low and no sign of leeks.Start your motor cold and make sure the radiator is full and cap off.Watch for excessive bubbles, but stand back due to the posibility of eruptions spewing coolant. These are all signs of a blown head gasket. You can also do a compression check on the cylinders and if two adjasant cylinders show low compression.Well hope this helps and good luck.

1995 toyo camary that runs like hell

Several things can cause this. 1. Your engine is overheating because it is low on Coolant or Oil. 2. Your water pump is not working correctly and the engine is overheating. 3. You have stuck valves or blown head gasket. 4. Your block or Head is cracked. 5. Your Thermostat is stuck. Each of these has it's own trouble shooting steps and repair procedure. I recommend you get the Haynes repair manual for your make and model of vehicle to get a good reference for the trouble shooting and repair you will be doing. It has diagrams, step by step instructions and pictures of the repairs you'll be doing as well as testing procedures. You can get this from Auto Zone or just about any Auto parts store.

The temp light on my volvo s70 keeps lighting up. the guage doesn't go any higher than midway up the guage, but the coolant reserve now has a crack and the excess coolant is steaming out of it.what can i...

the only reason coolant would be steaming in the reservoir is if it were steaming out of the radiator into the reservoir. consult local technician to see if your engine coolant temp sensor is operating properly; most likely a bad engine temp sensor.

Massive coolant leak.

Sounds about right to me too. You may want to look into the rubber style replacements if necessary. They are like an old thermos plug, measure hole, purchase proper size, slip it in the hole, tighten nut, and your done. Have used then quite a few times with good success. Clean hole good before.
